The conversation around mental health continues to shift as we all learn more about how we can support those around us 🧠 This week for Men's Mental Health Week, we celebrate our Mental Health First Aid trainer, Vinay Nair. From his early days as an international student to becoming a beacon of hope in mental health advocacy, Vinay’s journey reminds us of the transformative power of personal experiences. Drawing from his own challenges and breakthroughs, Vinay reshapes mental health training with empathy and understanding, ensuring our community receives the holistic care they deserve. "To create meaningful engagement from men within their families, workplaces, and broader community, it's important to establish environments that prioritise safety and encourage open dialogue. Let's collaborate on solutions that promote men's self-awareness, curiosity, emotional resilience, and willingness to communicate." Discover how Vinay and our Mental Health First Aid courses are making a difference: stjohnvic.org/96n Check on the men in your life, and let's break the stigma together. 💙 #MensMentalHealthAwarenessDay

🌟 Later this month, I’m excited to be taking a course with Focus on Mental Illness to deepen my understanding of mental health support in the workplace and beyond. In Jersey, companies are legally required to meet physical first aid standards. This ensures we’re prepared to respond to medical emergencies like choking, anaphylaxis, burns, CPR, and more. These skills are essential and, without a doubt, save lives. But here’s a question: how many of us would know what to do if we suspected a colleague was struggling with their mental health or experiencing symptoms of mental illness? Would we know how to help someone going through psychosis or other mental health crises? Mental health is just as important as physical health, yet many of us lack the training to support it effectively, leading to serious, sometimes severe, consequences. That’s why increasing the number of people with mental health training is so crucial. If you agree, consider signing up a member of your team for this course - there are still a couple of places for this month. Together, we can create safer, more supportive workplaces for everyone. 🧠💙 #MentalHealthMatters #WorkplaceWellbeing #MentalHealthTraining #FocusOnMentalIllness #Support

Our new MHFA campaign. Would you know what to say? Book MHFA training for your workplace, club or school with me so you do know what to say. #wouldyouknowwhattosay
Today, we launch our #WouldYouKnowWhatToSay campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the potentially life-saving power of mental health first aid skills and conversations. At the centre of the campaign is a celebration of our Mental Health First Aiders, and the skills that they bring to their workplaces, schools or communities. Through their stories of connection and conversation, we hear about the impact their role as an MHFAider has had both on them, and the lives of those around them. More than 1.3 million Australians have been trained in Mental Health First Aid — and we’re only just getting started. We know that having a conversation may save a life, and it is our goal to see millions more equipped with the crucial skills to know how. To help us keep the conversation going, our national network of Mental Health First Aiders and MHFA Instructors are sharing stories of what Mental Health First Aid means to them. Check out these hashtags to read their messages: #WouldYouKnowWhatToSay, #IAmAMentalHealthFirstAider, #IAmAnMHFAInstructor. Explore our campaign page, help us spread the word, and together we can create a world where everyone has the skills to support people experiencing mental health problems. https://lnkd.in/dceWVvC7
