🎥 Check out the highlights from the Northeast Public Power Association (NEPPA)'s 2024 Mutual Aid Disaster Exercise! From GMs to foremen to lineworkers, attendees honed their skills and focused on being prepared. 👷 Reenacting real events like the 2008 Winter Storm Hannah, which left over 200,000 without power and caused extensive damage across the Northeast, allows NEPPA utilities to improve an already excellent mutual aid program. Attendees received hands-on disaster response training, learned about National and NEPPA Mutual Aid programs, and witnessed Eversource's Rapid Pole Restoration Device demo. The day also featured an insightful presentation by Brian Allen of West Boylston Municipal Light Plant. 🌪️⚡ Thank you, Eversource Energy, for demonstrating your incredible Rapid Pole Restoration Device! 🙌 Remember, practice doesn’t make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect. 💪 . . . . . . . . . . . #NEPublicPower #CommunityPowered #DisasterPreparedness #MutualAid #UtilityTraining #PerfectPractice #EmergencyManagement #CommunitySafety #UtilityWorkers #PowerRestoration #DisasterResponse #Preparedness #SafetyFirst #PublicPower #Infrastructure #CrisisManagement

It’s cool to see how even the smallest innovations make such a big difference. These wraps are a perfect example of how valuable advanced safety tech becomes when maintaining stability during a crisis. By minimizing the damage to transmission poles, this invention secures key infrastructure, saving a ton of money on emergency repairs down the line. Are there are any more developments in safety tech that have stood out to you recently? I'd love to hear about them. 👇🏻 #Transmission #TransmissionTech #GridStability #EmergencyPreparedness

Day 2 of #TTDRM2024 is a wrap! We've had some incredible sessions packed with valuable information, and the energy in the room has been phenomenal. But learning isn't just theoretical at #TTDRM2024! We got down to business with a live demonstration from Deployed Logix (DLX) on erecting an emergency shelter. This hands-on experience provided valuable insights into the practical aspects of disaster response. #TTDRM2024 #DisasterManagement

During #HurricaneHelene Dave Jones of StormCenter Communications provided updates to the All Hazards Consortium (45,000 stakeholder members). This could be scaled up to engage communities, build capacity, interpret data, and provide people the information and advice they need to make wise decisions. We need to do better. Hearing too much "We didn't know it would be this bad, didn't believe it, didn't see it coming." The NHC forecast and warnings were right on target well in advance. We can scale up efforts and continue our work with the broadcast meteorologist community, but we need funding.........anyone know foundations, donors, corporations that want to engage, please let us know (we are also partnering water safety experts and a 501c3 fiscal sponsor). We can make a difference before the next Helene strikes! And it will.

🚨 Heroes in Action! 🚨 Our Ferreira Power South crew—Ben Garcia, Jorge Sanchez, Corey Casas, and Derik Garcia—stepped up after a severe storm hit the southern U.S. While restoring power, they encountered two brothers in urgent need: one brother's oxygen tank had only 30 minutes of power left. Understanding the critical situation, our team sprang into action. Guided by our motto, "Think Safety, Think Family," they worked swiftly and efficiently, restoring power just in time. This moment underscores our unwavering dedication to safety and family, values that are at the core of the Ferreira Family of Companies. We are incredibly proud to serve and support our communities, ensuring the well-being of our customers in every situation.
