CELEBRATION INCOMING! It's time to talk about 🥳 💃 Dr. Jude Shupe, DSW, LCSW 🌊 💚 -- another of the 10 DSW candidates who successfully defended their APP manuscripts this Fall. Dr. Shupe's research is entitled: "Exploring the fear of recovery among individuals with a substance abuse disorder: A novel descriptive study." The primary focus of this study is how fear often plays a central role in addiction, driving individuals to seek solace or escape through substance abuse. Recovery can be a daunting journey filled with barriers and challenges, and fear often plays a significant role in this process. Overcoming fear is crucial for achieving long-term sobriety and finding freedom from addiction. Although fear of recovery may be a significant barrier to sobriety for individuals with substance abuse disorders, this phenomenon is not well understood. Using social cognitive theory to underpin this research, the purpose of this study was to explore participants’ perceptions of fear of recovery as related to their sobriety. "As for my future," Dr. Shupe says, "I would like to collaborate with other researchers in the field of substance abuse to explore this important topic and help further and improve treatment options and outcomes. I'd also like to enter academia. I'm a lifelong learner and believe that teaching is also an opportunity for learning. I would love to be a part of the next generation of social workers." Well, Dr. Shupe, you already are! We can't wait to see where your #DSW takes you. #TSSW #TulaneSocialWork #SubstanceAbuseDisorder #AddictionRecovery #FearInRecovery

#ComprehensiveCare 🌱 As behavioral health professionals, we understand the importance of diverse treatment options to cater to the unique needs of each individual. For those who have moved on from residential treatment or don't require it, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) could be a game changer. In our new blog post at Avery Lane https://arshare.co/pEC9H, we delve into the details of PHPs, a structured and comprehensive mental health treatment option. It's a bridge between inpatient and outpatient care, providing intensive care while allowing clients to return to their supportive environment each day. This flexibility makes PHPs an essential tool in our arsenal for supporting clients on their recovery journey. 💪🏼💡🌈 From group therapy to individual counseling, psychoeducation, medication management, and holistic interventions, PHPs offer a wide range of therapeutic activities. They are particularly beneficial for individuals transitioning out of inpatient care, offering a step-down level of support as they regain their independence and coping skills. 🌳🔗🎗️ We invite you to use our blog post as a resource for your clients. Let them know that at Avery Lane, we're here to support them every step of the way. If they need additional assistance, they can reach out to us at (800) 270-2406. We're here to help. 🤝💚 #averylane #PHP #MentalHealthSupport
