This presents an opportunity to point out that sport rivalries are an example of managed competition; they're not trying to put the other out of business. Rather, they're trying to beat other entertainment options (pro football, other TV shows, etc.). Yankee stadium will always be packed and concession sales highest when the Red Sox roll into the Bronx. Being from Seattle, my favorite football team is the Seahawks of course. What do the Hawks have in common with a business unit? (1) Geno Smith - the QB is the project leader (2) The coaches are the CxOs (3) The fans are your prospects = (ICPs) (4) The Refs are the regulatory agencies (5) KPIs are ==> win a match, a conference, the Superbowl (6) TV, social media are marketing channels Just like in football, the project/team wins if everyone is aligned with the same objective.
