After witnessing an intense match between FC Imabari and Sagamihara SC in the J League 3rd Division, my belief in Japan's football prowess is further solidified. Despite Sagamihara's budget being only a fraction of their opponent's and lacking expensive foreign players, they emerged victorious with a 2-0 win. This highlights the competitive nature of the J3 league, where any team can triumph on any given day. Notably, the difference in skill level between Japanese players in Europe and those across the J-League divisions is minimal. This trend has led to a surge in Japanese players making waves in top European leagues, a testament to Japan's robust football development system. The emphasis on technical skill training and strategic planning implemented three decades ago has laid a strong foundation for Japan's football success. With continued focus on coaching and skill development, Japan has the potential to become an unstoppable force in the global football arena. Quality leadership When coach Shin Tae-yong led the #Indonesian national soccer team to victory against the national players of his own country, #SouthKorea, it seemed to be quite a delicate balancing act. On one hand, his professionalism was proven to bear fruit. On the other hand, he handled the situation with grace. Rather than jubilantly celebrating the opening of the path for the Indonesian national team to the #Olympics in #Paris, he was graceful to walk to the #SouthKorean national team to embrace them, hence earning him respect from both sides. The same applies in #business. We do have competition, but we also need to embrace #partners, #stakeholders and even where possible to also still have open communication channels with our #competitors which might well cooperate, collaborate with us in other #opportunities. Anyway, we do see more signs of #Indonesia exerting its presence in the international arena. Perhaps it's time for you to also watch this space and explore what you can do there to ride the trend. Petaling Jaya City FC, once regarded as one of the best-run teams in the Malaysia Super League, has been absent from the local football scene since its disbandment in 2022. The club’s decision to withdraw was not due to financial reasons, but rather to concerns about the direction of the restructured Malaysian Football League (MFL), which did not align well with the club’s goals. This restructure involved increasing the foreign import quota from five to nine players, as set by the MFL in 2022. Formerly known as the Malaysian Indian Football Association when competing in the FAM League (third tier) and Malaysia Premier League, PJ City made its Super League debut in 2019 and competed with 100% local players throughout its four years of participation. Despite not fielding foreign players like their rivals who use the maximum quota, the Phoenix squad provided a decent challenge in the Super League throughout its time in the competition, finishing eighth in 2019, seventh in 2020 and 2021, and ninth in its final season. 🇯🇵 Red Bull has recently expanded its football portfolio into Asia by acquiring Japanese club Omiya Ardija, marking the energy drink conglomerate's first foray into Asian football. 💰 And looking at the top Japanese players by estimated market value, it’s evident that Japan is an undervalued talent hub. The country’s most notably players are Kubo and Mitoma, each valued at over €40 million.
