My heart is asking me to listen on sidewalks a lot and double down on writing my book on Sidewalk Talk. And May marks 9 years of Sidewalk Talk. Happy Birthday Sidewalk Talk. 🎂 Holy $hittballs you have taught me a lot. I am doing "book therapy" right now because I want to say some dangerous stuff about our dehumanizing ways. I want to be clear in my psyche as I write. The Identity Trap (yes a nod to Yascha Mounk's book of the same name) we are in right now I will roar about. Listening on sidewalks has chipped away at my reverence to identity obsession while I remain committed to inclusion and justice. I am glad to have sorted how to run Sidewalk Talk sustainably to my spirit while allowing it to safely expand. I burnt myself out three years ago. Lots of soul work, mistakes, learning boundaries. Operationally, Sidewalk Talk has expanded beyond a background checked chapter leader model where folks must pay to be a leader bc the application process is costly. Many just wanted to listen with a friend and not do a chapter. So...Tah Dah...we listened. Sidewalk Talk now gives you the "How To" to grab a friend and go listen in a friend group on the Sidewalk safely and effectively for FREE ... not even needing to be expressly part of Sidewalk Talk. A complete democratization. We still charge money for our trainings on Listening and Conflict resolution and chapter leadership so we can cover operating expenses. But everything else is freely offered. Cool eh? Go listen? www.sidewalk-talk.org
Hi Sidewalk Talk Family! So something you should know about us. YOU are Sidewalk Talk. YOU bring Sidewalk Talk listening to your town. This thing is not "US" going into "YOUR" town. It is YOU brining Sidewalk Talk to your town. So if you like what you see add your email here and get the guide on how to listen safely on the sidewalk. Submit your email here or see the link in our Instagram bio. https://lnkd.in/gNG58K8 We love you! We are so excited to make this world more loving, inclusive, and kind. WE CAN DO THIS! Have a great end of your week. #SidewalkTalk #socialhealth #communityhealth #Youmatter #NGO

Let's start a conversation about how we use our work skills to give back to our communities! Here's mine: I'm currently diving into a survey analysis for a proposed sports arena project with my neighborhood association. It been fun dusting off my 20+ years of research skills to benefit my adopted hometown. And I can confirm that my neighbors have - some feelings! What volunteer or community-serving roles have you taken on using your professional expertise? I'd love to hear about it! #CommunityService #VolunteerWork #ProfessionalSkills #LinkedInConversations

Omaha, situated along the Missouri River near the Iowa border and stretching to the Elkhorn River, has a rich history dating back to humble beginnings. Here are some interesting facts about Omaha's early days! Informally established on July 4, 1854, at a picnic on Capital Hill (which is now the site of Omaha Central High School), Omaha later became the starting point for the transcontinental railroad, as decided by President Lincoln in 1862. This led to the formation of the Union Pacific Railroad. Although the territorial capital was Omaha, it was moved to Lancaster (later renamed Lincoln) after Nebraska became the 37th state in the union on March 1, 1867. Omaha's Union Stockyard Company was founded in 1883 and became a revival of Chicago's Union Stock Yards, dominating the nation's largest livestock market and meat packing industry until the 1990s. Dubbed "The Gateway to the West," Omaha hosted The World's Fair in 1898 and became a crucial transportation hub due to its central location. Today, it is the largest city in Nebraska and home to four Fortune 500 companies: Berkshire Hathaway, Mutual of Omaha, Kiewit Corporation, and Union Pacific Corporation. If you're looking for things to do in Omaha, there are plenty of options to choose from! Check out some of the city's top attractions, including the famous Henry Doorly Zoo, Lauritzen Botanical Gardens, The Durham Museum, Joslyn Art Museum, and Kaneko. The dining scene is also diverse, with many talented chefs serving up almost every kind of cuisine across the city. For recommendations, we suggest following the Omaha Food Lovers page on Facebook. Omaha is also home to many local businesses across all industries. Some of our favorites that serve the Omaha Metro Area include Badger Custom Construction, Omaha Blue Waves Martial Arts & Fitness, Pat Zimmer with Heritage Financial Services, West Mortgage Group with Fairway Mortgage, Omaha National Title, DnTree, The Lantern Boutique, Castle and Associates with American Family Insurance, Signature Property Inspections, Eshelman Chiropractic, and Allied Heating and Cooling. Additionally, Omaha features many parks and recreation areas, such as golf courses, pools and spraygrounds, dog parks, skate parks, and pickleball courts. For entertainment, check out The Steelhouse, The Rose Theater, The Omaha Community Playhouse, The Orpheum Theater, and The Holland Performing Arts Center. Lastly, the city is home to several public school districts, including Omaha Public Schools, Westside Community Schools (also known as District 66), Millard Public Schools, and Elkhorn Public Schools.

Radio Presenter on Love and Science, BCFM. Administrator at SEEd. MSc Science Communication Student with a Postgraduate Diploma (UWE Bristol).
I’ve been wanting to visit We The Curious since moving to Bristol, and today I finally got the chance to! Having reopened after a fire tore through the building in 2022, I went over to find out exactly what visitors can expect - tune in to Love and Science on BCFM next Monday to hear what I got up to! #science #scienceradio #sciencecentre #wethecurious #bcfm #scienceeducation #sciencenews #bristol #bristolnews
And we're OPEN! After 2 years, 2 months and 22 days of being closed, our doors are finally open once again. We've made a lot of new friends while we've been closed, running activities and workshops in schools, libraries and community events across the city, but it's just wonderful to have our building back. To hear it come alive with the familiar sound of people having a great time together is just magic. Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey, and to our amazing, resilient staff and volunteers. Come and see us soon 😊🌈🚀 📷 Lisa Whiting
