🦞 Happy World Lobster Day! 🦞 Today holds a special place in my heart and my personal journey. I started the day playing my own character “Lobsy” in the Bubble Ranger game reflecting on how life, like design, is full of transformations. It’s fascinating to think that in the 1770s, lobster was considered a “poor man’s meal,” reserved for prisoners, apprentices, and enslaved people due to its abundance. Later it was “soldiers food” with WW2. Fast forward to today, and it’s now a delicacy, symbolizing luxury and celebration. This shift reminds me that life is all about perspective and change. Just like the evolution of lobster’s status, our own journeys are filled with unexpected turns. We may not always win at everything we desire, but it’s those changes and challenges that help us grow, redefine ourselves, and find new meaning in what we do. Today, I’m celebrating all the Lobsy moments—the small yet significant steps that shape our unique paths. Let’s honor our personal growth and resilience, and embrace the transformations life and design bring, because today is the day of the lobster! Wishing everyone a day filled with gratitude, joy, and a dash of Lobsy spirit! #WorldLobsterDay #CelebrateWins #Resilience #PersonalProjects #BubbleRanger #LobsyJourney #CreativeLife #Transformation #DesignEvolution #lobsy #bubbleranger

You know what I think about the PLOTTERS? I think you won’t find a more perfectly curated bunch of talented creatives anywhere. So Richard Plotnek and I like to reward them with an annual day out. We close the office for a day and set out on an adventure. For those who don’t know, Richard is my brother. It’s true, you can’t pick your family. Even so, I’d always pick Rich. But you can bloody well pick your team. And I’d pick each and every one of them, ten times outta ten. I’m always on the lookout for adventures to do with the PLOTTERS. Any recommendations? Where do you take your teams? #GrandDaysOut #TeamBuilding
Teams that play together, stay together. Or something. Well, we believe away days are a great opportunity to connect and deepen working relationships. Ostensibly that’s the purpose of the annual PLOTT summer day out. But also laughter, silliness, bonding and, um … cocktails? This year's destination was lovely Manchester, with a trip to The Cube (as seen on TV) at Urban Playground UK. If you've not seen it, it's a series of challenges set inside a glass cube. Each task involves either problem-solving, concentration, or memory skills. And a good deal of laughter. Isn’t this just what the PLOTT team does every day? Yes, but with cocktails. After all that hard work, it was only right to top it off with Brunch at Turtle Bay. And more cocktails. And more laughter. We’re a happy bunch. In the end our business is all about teamwork. And we love to show them how much their efforts are appreciated. #TeamWork #BrandingWithBalls #BottomlessBrunch

The Memorial Day BBQ is Calling My Name 🍔🌭 I can practically smell the burgers on the grill! The Memorial Day BBQ is calling my name, but if you’re like many of the people I talk with, there are a few things you might need to tackle before being ready to relax: 1. Delivering some 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸: A challenging conversation is on the horizon, but it's essential to help my team grow. 3. Reflecting, 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴, and replanning the rest of the quarter: Taking a step back to refine my game plan so we can crush our goals. Does any of this resonate with you? Founder/CEO of The Youth Fairy Franchise | Solution Focused Therapist | Hypnotherapy Lecturer | Clinical Supervisor | NLP Master Practitioner | Qualified Coach | Youth Mental Health First Aider
🌟 Today, we celebrated the work of one of our Fabulous Fairies and reviewed #goodpractice in the Fairy Family. 🧚♀️✨ I've challenged the team to find as many reasons as possible why the social media post they created was just like Mary Poppins - practically perfect in every way! ☂️👜🌟 As a Franchisor, maintaining high standards for our brand and any content we put out there is crucial. One of the reasons my Fairies value being part of the team is because of our commitment to quality and attention to detail. However, we totally understand that mistakes happen and our newbies also need time to find their feet and be shown how to get things right. 🌱💼 I've experienced some exceptional environments in the past, where feedback was managed positively, and I've also experienced ones where it predominantly focused on mistakes or what not to do. And so I understand how anxiety-provoking and demotivating it can be over time. That's why I've made it a priority to help my Fairies learn how to maintain standards in a solution-focused way and to cultivate a supportive culture that uplifts every team member. 💪🌟 So today we're shining the spotlight on and celebrating the right way to do things, all while infusing a sense of fun! Because, anyone in the SFH world will know, learning is much more effective when it's enjoyable! #leftprefrontalcortext #activated And, as an added bonus, the more reasons each Fairy comes up with, as to why the post was spot on, the more entries they receive into a #fun prize draw! 🎉🎁 Here's to a supportive and innovative team culture. #teamwork #innovation #growthopportunities #supportiveculture 💼🚀

This week, we hosted a virtual all-staff meeting at D'Ieteren, and I couldn't be more proud of the incredible teamwork and engagement from everyone involved. 10 of our talented colleagues took the stage, while another 10 worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly. We spent an hour discussing key topics and answering live questions from our colleagues. It was truly inspiring to see hundreds of you online, actively participating and sharing your thoughts. This event was a fantastic way to wrap up the first semester of the year, and it's clear that this won't be the last time we come together like this. Thank you to everyone who made this possible and to all who joined us. Here's to many more successful and collaborative sessions ahead!

💡 We are built to flow with the natural pace of change. Sometimes situations arise that can be overwhelming, being able to accept the lack of control is key to overcoming what ever challenge is presented to you. In my role overseeing event operations, the critical two-hour window—one hour before the event starts and the first hour during—sees my work phone ringing every 30-60 seconds with last-minute client requests and urgent needs from stakeholders within our theme parks. Mastering the art of staying calm and providing composed, effective solutions has been an essential skill I've rapidly honed. If you're considering a career in events, never underestimate the importance of a solution-oriented mindset—it will be the key to your success. 💡Did you know that at Yas Island Theme Parks, once the operational hours have been complete you can host your very own event with us just like Ethara have done in this image. We provide all F&B, AV, and staffing needed to execute a flawless one of a kind gala dinner/ awards ceremony or after party.

In the immortal words of Bon Jovi - “Woah, we’re halfway there…” Halfway through my secondment with Poppyscotland and what a four months it has been. Over those months, there have been many, many, many day… I’ve distilled them into one of the five different types. 1️⃣ a school day: with new areas of IG to learn about (enjoying raffles and regular giving), and reshaping my love of legacies. New techniques for DM, and different ways of working. 2️⃣ a planning day: planning my time to ensure that I can fit it all that is important, and moving aside the bits which I have absolutely ability to change or impact. 3️⃣ a reflection day: talking with those in my network about what I’ve learned, what’s gone well, what hasn’t, and what would I do differently next time… 4️⃣ a prioritising day: understanding that my priorities, really aren’t everyone else’s priorities, and that their priorities really aren’t mine too. With a little caring and sharing still gets the job done! 5️⃣ a “not today Satan” day. Enough said. I’m looking forward to a few more types of days, as I move into months 5, 6, 7 and 8 - there’s a another song on there somewhere….
