💡 Shining a light on PMDD Awareness Month! 👉Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) is a severe form of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) affecting millions worldwide. PMDD brings intense emotional and physical symptoms, from mood swings to headaches and beyond. Stress can exacerbate it, sometimes leading to misdiagnosis. It's important to break the stigma around periods and recognize that these symptoms aren't 'just PMS'. 📍Awareness is crucial because PMDD is often misunderstood or dismissed, leading to unnecessary suffering and isolation for those affected. 💡By shedding light on PMDD, we break down stigma, encourage education, and pave the way for better support and treatment options. If you're experiencing them regularly, reach out for support. 💪Remember, seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Don't suffer in silence. Whether it's talking to a trusted friend, a healthcare professional, or joining support groups. There are resources available to provide guidance and understanding. You're not alone. #PMDDAwareness #WomensHealth #MenstrualHealthAwareness #bleedwithpride #menstrualhygiene #menstrualhealth #Wellness #EndStigma #AwarenessMonth #WomenEmpowerment

Our next 2024 speaker series presentation is brought to you by our regional vice president of residential operations, Marissa Jones LPC, LMHC, CEDS-C! She will speak on the following topic: “What’s Relationships Got to Do with It? The Application of Interpersonal Psychotherapy in the Treatment of Eating Disorders.” Imagine going through a crisis and not having social support. What if you reached out and were rejected? What if you did not have the skills to reach out? Many approaches to eating disorder treatment focus on the patient’s attitudes towards weight, shape and food. However, research has shown that treatment does not have to be focused on eating habits or attitudes about shape or weight for change to occur in the eating disorder population. Instead, patients can benefit from a focus on interpersonal skills and building healthy relationships. This FREE CE event will highlight the value and effectiveness of focusing on interpersonal deficits to create symptom relief and achieve long-term recovery. We hope you will join us! Wednesday, April 24th 12 - 1:30 P.M. PST Join Us Virtually via Zoom | 1.5 CEs Offered To RSVP for this event, please head to the following link: https://ow.ly/qESc50RiqgC #eatingdisordertreatment #eatingdisorderrecovery #cfdstaff #cfd2024speakerseries #behavioralhealth #behavioralhealthcare #accessyourbestlife

The occurrence of post-traumatic stress symptomology (PTSS) is associated with exposure to traumatic events. Research by Amishi Jha found that individuals who experience cognitive lapses in everyday life are at greater risk of PTSS after exposure to trauma. Cognitive lapses are loss of focus, such as failing to see a stop sign, daydreaming when it is important to listen, and forgetting appointments. Assessing the frequency of these lapses might help identify individuals at risk for PTSS. #PTSS #trauma

For Eating Disorders Awareness Week by Beat we spoke with Anna Cohen, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist and ACP member. Anna has over 20 years experience of working with young people with eating disorders. Young people are particularly at risk of eating disorders. Alarming data by NHS England shows that 12.5% of 17 to 19 year olds had an eating disorder in 2023, a 15 fold soar since before the coronavirus pandemic. In this short piece, Anna describes what eating disorders may look like in a young person, what could contribute to them becoming unwell, and the process of recovery. She also discusses the complexity of parenting a young person with an eating disorder, and gives some advice to parents.
