So one quick way to help relieve occasional constipation is to do the I Love You belly massage. I'll kind of demonstrate and then talk you through it along the way. But I usually have people start with taking one or two really nice, deep belly breaths. Good. And then I want them to find where their hip bones are at. So you start on your right side and you trace the colon moving up and around until you reach your left hip bone. And once you're here, you find that right hip bone, usually an inch or two from the belly button. Everyone's anatomy is different, and you just take small circular motions providing movement throughout the colon. This is trying to contribute in peristalsis, which is an action that our body wants to go through naturally. So what I recommend for people to do is to take 5 minutes at night if they've been experiencing some constipation before they go to bed and do this, and then the next morning take 5 minutes to practice their bowel routine and see if they notice a difference in the constipation relief. I'm going kind of quickly through the motions now, but this is the area that you want to trace. Like I said, going from right hip bone up to right rib over to left rib. Down to left hip bone, keeping good breathing throughout. https://lnkd.in/edwuD5n7 #asheville #ashevillenc #ashevillemoms #828isgreat #AVL #pelvichealth #NC #WNC #ashevillelocal #visitasheville #pelvicfloorpt #exploreasheville #AVLlocal #ashevillenorthcarolina #ashevillefit #ashevillelife #AVLfitness #ashevillehealth #ashevillewellness #backpain #constipation #hippain #828health #physicaltherapist #physicaltherapy #physicaltherapyclinic #physiotherapy #physiotherapist #ashevillestrong #avltoday

Yesterday was an evening of treating family with fascial stretch therapy. I did five sessions, working on my father-in-law, sister-in-law, and my nieces (ages 5, 10, and 12). It was so interesting to see the differences in tissue and mobility across all these ages in just one day. Here's how they felt afterward: Nieces: They all slept well, which is unusual for them. My sister-in-law mentioned that they woke up in a good mood, which is a rare and welcome change! Sister-in-law: She had a really restful sleep and felt like she could have slept even longer. No tossing and turning. Father-in-law: He felt some soreness in the afternoon but noticed an immediate improvement in his shoulder mobility, which is great progress after his shoulder replacement 14 months ago. Feeling a bit sore after the first 24 hours is pretty normal, much like after a good workout. I’m excited to see how they feel after a full day has passed. Treating my nieces reminded me how important it is to teach kids to understand and listen to their bodies. I made sure to explain when one side felt different from the other, asked them what they felt, and got them thinking about why. Their answers weren't always spot-on, but it was great to see them start to think about how their bodies work. #FascialStretchTherapy #Kinesiology #FamilyHealth #BodyAwareness #Mobility #Wellness

Did you grow up hearing your mum 👩🦱tell you to sit up straight 🥴or stop slouching and stand up tall 🕴 Turns out maintaining an upright posture 🧘♀️touches almost every aspect of our lives, from our appearance, health, productivity and even our mood 😊. We all know maintaining good posture is important, but why? 1. Posture = Power 💪 Across species, posture is often the primary representation of power. People with high power poses have increased feelings of dominance, risk-taking, and power as well as reduced anxiety. 2. Say goodbye to back 😳 pain Good posture is critical to reducing back and neck 😳 pain. Slouching can add strain to muscles and put stress on the spine. 3. Look good and feel confident 😁 Needless to say, being upright does wonders for your appearance. You look taller, slimmer and more successful when you sit and stand tall. It is imperative to making a good first impression.🚀🚀🚀 4. Breathe Better Keeping an upright posture 🧘♀️helps open up the airways and ensure proper breathing. This allows more oxygen to flow through the cardiopulmonary system.❤️ 5. Be more productive Sitting upright makes you more alert, concentrated, and productive. The reason is that when you slouch, your body takes in as much as 30% less oxygen than you'd take in with good posture.🤔 If you would love to overcome your back pain and improve your posture, ring My Favourite Physio 📱today on (02) 9790 4233 or DM us @myfavouritephysio to book an appointment with one of our Expert Physiotherapists 🤓today!
