IF POLICY DECISIONS FOR DISTRICTS that are meant to address both pre- and post-pandemic inequities in student outcomes are going to be made based on proficiency levels (Meets Grade Level), then we may want to begin by using statistical models based on multi-year disaggregated proficiency levels (points on the green line) to inform setting target outcomes (in this case for 3rd-grade reading). If we don't then it will be too easy for districts to replicate the error in the original NCLB legislation (all students proficient by 2014) of setting (clearly desirable but) unrealistic (given how the current psychometrics "work") target proficiency levels (the orange X's and regression line are the corresponding 3rd-grade reading targets set by a large district in Texas). #education #assessment #educationleadership #patternrecognition #edtech #educationresearch #mathematicseducation #edleadership #cognitivescience #learning #teaching #teachingandlearning #SchoolLeadership #PublicSchools #EdPolicy #EdReform #LearningAnalytics #StudentAchievement #DataDriven #K12Education #StudentGrowth #StudentSuccess
