Educational access is just one facet of a larger issue encompassing access to quality food, livable wages, affordable housing, and more. Educational inequity is but a symptom of the broader issue of communities marginalized and left behind. However, through collaborative efforts with businesses and communities, exemplified by leaders like Chicago’s Mayor Brandon Johnson, we can begin the journey towards resolving these deeply ingrained inequities. It’s imperative to shed the illusion of equal opportunities and confront the systemic barriers obstructing progress.
