#PFLUON Weekly Q&A Q：What are the substrates used for ceramic coatings, and do they require special treatment? The substrates primarily suitable for PFLUON ceramic coatings are aluminum and aluminum alloy materials. Prior to the application of the coating, the substrates require a pretreatment process involving sandblasting. There are two key points in the pretreatment. Firstly, the cleanliness of the substrate surface is crucial and requires a hightemperature degreasing process, followed by a thorough cleaning with a continuous sodium hydroxide alkaline solution. Secondly, the granularity of the sand used for sandblasting is recommended to be between 80-120#. It is important to control the speed and angle of the sand projection to achieve a final roughness of Ra2.0-3.0μ.
