Hello everyone! I'm leaving mtOpticalGloom here in case you want to take a look. I've had some free time recently (for one reason or another... 😅 ) and to keep myself entertained, I've been tinkering with this. Basically, mtOpticalGloom creates more "realistic and attractive" pings/glints and/or interesting diffusions. In short, you input the shape or silhouette of a camera diaphragm, and it creates a filter (trying to simulate the dispersion of light) that is then used to create the gloom effect or to create a beautiful diffusion. You can find it here https://lnkd.in/gf5XZ34d In general, the effect looks really nice in images with cool shapes and a high range of values in brightness. I'm still trying to figure out why I used some clamped and compressed JPGs for reference... I'm not a marketing genius I guess. It's in a testing phase, and although theoretically, it should work on different versions of Nuke, I've only tested it on Nuke 15.0. Windows Update: fixed and working in nuke 14.0v3 too. Added other minor improvements. #nuke

I watched a video on YouTube titled "Why do Studios Hate Blender?" The video (see below) inspired me to the following comment (slightly edited for context): Studios don't hate Blender. A studio's infrastructure is not one single software, it is a grown system of many programs made to talk to each other delivering predictable results, a.k.a. the pipeline. And no, you don't buy a pipeline, you create it. As in writing countless scripts and tools to make it work. Case in point: almost all VFX studios use Nuke by Foundry for comping. Why are the same studios insisting on using Maya instead of switching to Modo? The latter is from the same company which created the standard tool for comping, so one could talk to the same people if something 3D-ish won't work in Nuke X? Because the people maintaining the pipeline know how to deal with most of the problems "created" by Maya – switching to another 3D software would require them to deal with new problems. What is your take on this subject? BTW: I love Blender, but I understand the studios too. I used to work as a "tool-maker" (among other things) in one. I am spending some time getting to know how to work with Reality Composer Pro version 2; it is shipped with the Xcode 16 beta. One interesting new feature is the timeline to create animations. I just managed to get some animation playing in an iOS project; I will eventually make some of the code public on GitHub. The basic process is: - set up a reality kit project which is then referenced as a Swift package in an Xcode project target like iOS - load a Reality Kit scene - get a list of entities in the scene; entities are akin to game objects in Unity - create an animation resource to play an animation associated with an entity I am going to document my coding journey here using Notion.

Creating visual effects (VFX) in Blender can be surprisingly accessible, even for beginners, thanks to its user-friendly interface and the wealth of resources available. Blender’s integrated toolset simplifies many complex VFX tasks. I have created this Vfx scene using Blender. To know more about how it has been created? you can check out the link below for the complete Tutorial. On my YouTube Channel https://lnkd.in/gabSr4mt

I decided to study the Pixel Composer program, which attracted me very much because in each node I see the resulting image output, unlike Blender. When I write a procedural shader, such programs help to see the results of experiments faster, and then I will transfer them to glsl. #shaders #pixelcomposer

I have now released all of the videos for my introduction to Nuke/NukeX course "NK101" for free on YouTube. If you've ever wanted to learn Nuke and the basics of digital compositing this course will help you start your journey. I have alumni who are now working professionally who used these very same videos and projects to get started! Pro Tip: Try watching the videos at faster than real-time (1.5x or 2x). It can be a big time saver and you can always rewind if you miss something. I have also released all of the downloadable project files for download with “Name a fair price” on Gumroad. I chose to use “Name a fair price” to make the project assets as accessible as possible to everyone regardless of their means. I do ask that you consider paying according to your means and to please leave a review on Gumroad at the very least. Good tutorials take time to produce! Here is a YouTube Community post with all the playlists and a link to the Gumroad page with the project assets. Please consider subscribing and signing up to the Newsletter at LearnVFX.com to get notifications as I release new videos. You'll probably need to click "Read more" to get it to show you the entire post. https://lnkd.in/gFHzGBqk
