🍓 Strawberry applications are still underway in California 🍓 Growers are working hard to prep the soil ahead of planting, providing a zone of protection for the strawberries to grow into healthy plants with an abundance of berries. One of the biggest challenges strawberry growers face comes from a microscopic threat in the soil: nematodes. These tiny roundworms attack the plant roots, making it hard for proper and efficient uptake of water and nutrients. The result is plants that are often stunted, with negative impacts on yield and quality. For strawberries, this often shows up as curling or red leaves, patchy fields, and fruit that grows un-uniformly (sometimes called "broccoli fruit"). The most effective way to manage these pests is to prep the soil ahead of planting using TELONE™ or a TELONE™/Chloropicrin blend, which helps target soil-borne diseases in addition to the nematodes. TELONE™ creates a zone of protection where young roots can establish free of nematode pressure. Healthy roots allow for more efficient uptake of water and nutrients, resulting in healthier plants with improved berry quality and increased yields. Ask your TELONE™ Specialist how prepping with TELONE™ before planting can help ensure a successful season! Visit www.teleosag.com to learn more. “Our property is still not ‘done.’ We’re still improving pastures, we’re still learning, and we still stuff up regularly. But we learn from it.” 👏 A buzzword? A ‘movement’? A glow up of what many beef producers already do on farm? Whichever way you see it, regen grazing is having a moment. To QLD grazier, Jess Bidgood, this nature-positive approach is more than just hype - but it is a journey. And the most important step you take is the first one. Read more 👉 https://bit.ly/3XLnOvT

🐜 Can we safely breed insects on organic residual streams? That is the question during the 'Safe Insects Symposium' on April 25. ♻ Organic residual flows, such as supermarket mix, poultry manure, slaughter by-products or food scraps from households, are a source of valuable nutrients but are still underutilised. The safe use of these - currently legally prohibited - residual flows for the cultivation of insects can contribute to the ambition of the Netherlands, namely circular agriculture in 2030. 🔎 The 'Safe Insects' project investigates feed and food safety and the technical feasibility of growing insects on organic residual flows. Hear more about the results at the symposium! 📅 When: Thursday April 25 📍 Where: HAS green academy, 's Hertogenbosch 🤝 Organisation: WUR, HAS green academy & Venik ✍️ Register: https://lnkd.in/eKWPMJVk #insects #onehealth #circulareconomy
