Technology is the Conduit, People are the Connection. Recently our President and CEO, Harry Zarek, had the opportunity to tour the Senate of Canada | Sénat du Canada with Gilles Rochon from our Ottawa team and alongside members of the Senate's IT team, David Vatcher, Martin Thibert, and Charles Ouellette. A very proud moment, providing the chance to visit a valued client, tour where Canadian democracy comes to life, and meet J. Greg Peters M.V.O., the Usher of the Black Rod, the most senior protocol position in our Senate. It is our honour to partner with the Senate's team as they realize new possibilities and innovate for Canadian government. #thisiscompugen #dreamdesigndeliver #technology #canada #modernwork #technologyally Visit us at https://hubs.la/Q02KTy-W0 to learn more.

“We asked Schiavo, director of federal affairs for the Council of Canadian Innovators | Conseil canadien des innovateurs, for his take on [MP] Williams’ ideas. He applauded Williams for talking about the issue. “The fact is that we’ve seen significant pro-competition steps recently from the European Union and the United States, and we’ve also seen policies put forward by the federal government,” he said. “For a small and open economy like Canada’s, competition policy cannot be the whole solution. We need to be strategic to ensure that our most successful homegrown companies can scale and fuel Canada’s future prosperity. However, to drive a truly strong, sustainable economy, Canadian policymakers need to look deeper at the root causes of our declining productivity, poor business expenditure in research and development and failure to commercialize intellectual property.” https://lnkd.in/ekHQHGvm

Mayor Sadiq Khan recently addressed London Government leaders, emphasising the evident challenges posed by Brexit four years on. The current trajectory is impacting our economy negatively, with a loss of £140 billion according to recent research commissioned by City Hall. In light of these economic consequences, Mayor Khan advocates for a more mature and open approach to improve our trading arrangements with European neighbours. He urges individuals who share this perspective to join the European Movement and contribute to fostering a closer relationship with the EU. The economic toll is not limited to numbers; it directly affects the average Londoner, who is reported to be nearly £3,400 worse off due to Brexit. Beyond the capital, various regions are grappling with lost opportunities, businesses, and income. Mayor Khan sees it as his duty to stand up for London and the entire country, calling for urgent action to build stronger ties with the EU. By becoming a member of the European Movement, you can play an integral role in the campaign to renew our links with the EU. Mayor Khan believes this is crucial for turbocharging our economy, raising living standards, and unlocking growth and prosperity. Forecasts indicate that if no action is taken, the economic damage from Brexit could spiral, with more than £300 billion potentially wiped off the UK's economy by 2035. Mayor Khan invites you to join him in advocating for a better European future for our country. If you resonate with this call to action, consider becoming a member of the European Movement today. Your support can contribute to shaping a more prosperous and interconnected future for the UK. Join: https://bit.ly/3vmP9bU

Principal, Perez Strategies | Political Commentator & Liberal Strategist | Freelance Writer | Board Vice President, Fife House & Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention
In recent months, I've written and spoken extensively in the media about the urgent need for renewal within the federal Liberal Party. Much of this discourse has focused on the pressing leadership question: should Justin Trudeau stay or go; a question media, political observers and strategists have become obsessed with since at least the spring. But this discussion, as important as it is, (I've certainly played a role contributing to it) masks the underlining crisis the party finds itself in. A crisis of party infrastructure that has been growing for years, but has received scarce scrutiny from media, political strategists and even Liberal Party rank-and-file members. Unfortunately, when a party and its leader are riding high in the polls, it's easy to overlook deep structural challenges in one's party, or even worse, not even be aware of them. The reality is that the federal Liberals are being out-fundraised by Poilievre’s Conservatives by well over a 2:1 margin. We’re laggards when it comes to leveraging technology and AI in a modern campaign context; our riding associations are increasingly skeletal; the Young Liberals of Canada - once representing the progressive policy spirit and organizational bulwark of our party - are a greatly diminished force in today’s Liberal Party. We’re also in desperate need of a policy thinkers conference to reset and renew our policy agenda; just as the federal Liberals did in 1991 under Jean Chretien’s leadership when they met in Aylmer, Quebec to formalize a bold, forward-looking economic agenda that went on to personify the popular Chrétien-Martin governments. The time for sweeping internal party and policy renewal within Liberal ranks is now. We can’t rest on our laurels or naively hope that macro-economic and geo-political external forces will come to our rescue. As we increasingly see politics polarize around extreme left and extreme right throughout parts of the Western world, it's critical we fight to ensure that Canada continues to benefit from a Liberal Party that is both centrist and forward looking. A political vehicle that is an antidote to polarization and U.S.-style culture wars on the left and right wings of the political spectrum. The Liberal Party of Canada is worth fighting for. But the hard work must start today. #cdnpoli #commentary #LiberalParty

🌐 The European Citizens' Initiative (ECI) at a Crossroads 🌐 A recent discussion initiated by Bruno Kaufmann suggests that the ECI, a unique democratic instrument allowing European citizens to propose legislation, may be positioned for significant growth. As it approaches its 13th anniversary, the ECI could potentially enable EU-wide referendums by the decade's end. Kaufmann shares a critical viewpoint on democracy's global state, noting a decline in democratic governance worldwide, despite more people being able to vote. Criticism of the ECI has labeled it as overly complex and lacking engagement. However, Kaufmann urges for a bolder approach to strengthening democracy beyond merely resisting authoritarian tendencies. He views the ECI as a unique and historically significant tool that is digital, democratic, and transnational, calling for its advancement to empower citizens further and renew democratic processes within the European Union. Discover more about the ECI’s journey in Bruno Kaufmann's article here 👇 https://lnkd.in/dw5XrYka Drawing from our Swiss roots with politik.ch, where referendums have been a democratic staple since 1874 (and celebrating their 150th anniversary today), we at SAVOIRR understand the impact of direct civic participation. Our platform complements this by providing detailed policy monitoring, enabling public affairs professionals to stay adept and proactive. Let's continue the conversation around democratic tools and their evolution. What are your thoughts on expanding citizens' abilities to influence policy directly? #ECI #Democracy #EuropeanUnion #PolicyMonitoring #Savoirr #politikCH

We were excited to have our CEO, Zev Furst, and longtime polling partner, Jeffrey Liszt of Impact Research, headline today's panel discussion hosted by the American Council on Germany in Berlin! Distinguished panelists, which also included Andrew Frank of KARV, highlighted the key factors to watch for in the final stretch before Election Day. They also talked about how each candidate's victory could impact the political and regulatory environment in Washington, what repercussions it could have for the transatlantic community, and what European companies could do to prepare. #USelections #business #Europe #Germany

As the pro-EU mainstream parties have just lost their monopoly over the EU project, an embryonic form of ‘EU politics’ is eventually emerging. Despite the absence of an EU-wide electoral competition, we’re witnessing a qualitative transformation of the EU political space. Watch this space as the old paradigm and logics lost their explanatory power My analysis for POLITICO Europe https://lnkd.in/dMWD7xUH

🔍 The Great Deception: Exposing the Hidden Agenda of the European Union In The Great Deception, Christopher Booker and Richard North unravel what they see as a long-standing conspiracy behind the formation and expansion of the European Union. They argue that the EU’s architects, like Jean Monnet, had a clear goal from the start: to create a federal superstate. However, this ambition was cleverly concealed under the guise of economic cooperation, allowing the project to advance without provoking the opposition it might have faced had the truth been made explicit. 🕵️ Technocracy vs Democracy One of the core claims of the book is that the EU operates as a technocracy, where decisions of great importance are made by unelected officials, often at the expense of the democratic processes of member states. Booker and North highlight how national governments have steadily ceded power to Brussels without fully informing their citizens. They argue that many important aspects of national sovereignty have been transferred to European institutions, all while the public was kept largely in the dark. 📜 Manipulation Through Treaties The authors provide detailed examples of how key treaties, like Maastricht and Lisbon, were passed under the radar. These treaties handed over significant powers to the EU, but the full implications were often downplayed. In cases where referendums were held, such as in Ireland or France, Booker and North suggest that the results were manipulated, with re-votes pushed until the desired outcome was achieved. 🧠 Deception by Design The book argues that the EU’s public image as a simple economic alliance was a deliberate act of disinformation. This tactic helped to prevent widespread resistance from national populations, allowing the EU to centralize more power while presenting itself as a force for economic stability rather than political control. ⏳ A Fragile Future Booker and North warn that this long-standing dissimulation may ultimately lead to the EU's downfall. As more citizens become aware of how much power has been stripped from their national governments, they predict a growing backlash. Without greater transparency and democratic control, they argue, the EU could face serious crises in the future. #TheGreatDeception #EuropeanUnion #Sovereignty #Technocracy #Democracy

“Euroscepticism is driven by discontent in European politics, but also very much discontent in national politics.” In our latest expert video, Patrick Bijsmans, Associate Professor @maastrichtuniversity, answers the crucial question: “What factors are driving the rise of Euroscepticism among French voters?” He provides an insightful analysis of the complex factors behind this trend. Discontent with both European and national politics, concerns about migration, and dissatisfaction with Macron’s policies on issues like housing and rising prices are all contributing factors. Eurosceptic parties, particularly on the populist right, have capitalized on these issues, owning the migration debate and drawing support from voters unhappy with the status quo. Established parties attempting to address these issues face a dangerous game, as far-right parties have the upper hand in these debates. #WorkingonEurope
