Calling UK companies with innovative sensor/ monitoring solutions/ mechanical/offshore engineering solutions... Two Floating Offshore Wind developers are seeking solutions to 4 challenges for trials (with the potential for further adoption if trials are successful). Proposed solutions/key part(s) should have been commercially proven in other sectors or within a test program which includes offshore conditions (for both installation and operation) trials. Deadline for applications: 26th August 2024 1. Solutions for anchor monitoring, focusing on anchor slippage Solutions must enable remote monitoring of the movement of a FOWT subsea anchor, with the aim of alerting the wind farm operator, based onshore, should an event occur. 2. Autonomous dynamic cable internal inspection Solutions need to enable autonomous or semi-autonomous inspection of the suspended section of dynamic cabling systems. 3. Remotely operated quick-release mooring tensioners Novel ways of tensioning or slackening the mooring line without the need for a turbine mounted winch. This could be delivered by a mechanism on the turbine, at the anchor side of the mooring line (instead of mid-line tensioners), or integration of existing technology used to success in parallel industries such as oil and gas. 4. Cable quick connect and disconnect Solution needs to enable the quick connection and disconnection of cables from floating structures and/or the seabed, with the aim of increasing speed of cable installation, and maintenance or service operations. There should be minimal use of vessels and personnel and be fully reversable without damaging the cable. Finalists will be notified in late September/October 2024 Challenges | KTN-iX™ (https://lnkd.in/ebfdy6iV)

Ventia is one of the largest essential infrastructure services providers in Australia and New Zealand, delivering long-term operation, maintenance, and management of critical assets across many industries. Ventia is also committed to sustainable procurement, ensuring that environmental, social, and economic aspects are considered when purchasing goods and services. Ventia’s Telecommunications division engaged ASA to deliver updates for Australia’s fibreoptic cable rollout, a critical infrastructure and nationally significant project, using multiple software products. To date, ASA has documented a substantial portion of the rollout across Australia for four hardware types. 31 ASA analysts have been trained on Ventia’s telecommunications work across our Brisbane, Melbourne and Cairns offices. Over half of these analysts were previously unemployed or had begun their first-ever job. The success of this partnership has also created ongoing work for ASA’s analysts. In 2023, ASA’s Melbourne staff moved to Ventia’s premises. Colocation has meant that ASA is fully integrated with Ventia’s team. The award-winning partnership has meant that Ventia has boosted social impact from its supply chain while harnessing the cognitive talents of ASA analysts to increase productivity. They have also received ASA’s neurodiversity in the workplace awareness training. “ASA brings a great set of skills to our team, we’ve seen great benefits of having them embedded into our completions process.” Matthew Swan, Senior Project Director. Small Business Consultant, making every business more Productive, Profitable & Valuable. Making your business much more Profitable sorts out lots of problems.
OFGEM HAS RELEASED NEW RULES TO PROTECT SMEs Ofgem has introduced new measures to protect businesses in the non domestic energy sector, aiming to improve customer service and transparency on broker fees. The changes, effective from 1st July 2024, extend Standards of Conduct to all businesses, empower Ofgem to act against unfair treatment and require suppliers to direct micro business consumers to advisory services. Further updates, anticipated by year-end, include displaying broker fees in contracts and enhancing Complaints Handling Standards for small business consumers. The reforms follow concerns raised about high energy prices and poor service, identified through a joint investigation with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Tim Jarvis, Ofgem’s Director General for Markets, said: “Too many businesses have experienced issues with some energy suppliers, from difficulty getting the right contracts, unexplained price hikes, and poor customer service. “We’ve worked hard to understand the breadth of issues and where the powers we have to tackle them can be improved. These new rules will help ensure businesses get the service they deserve. “We will be speaking to businesses of all sizes as these rules come into force throughout this year to make sure they are being followed by suppliers. We will also continue to work with government, industry, and consumer groups to see what else can be done to support non-domestic consumers.” #smes #kentbusiness #smallbusinessowner #AshfordFOR #kentinvictachamber #energymarket #consumerprotection #energyregulations
