I am on sick leave today to rest but ended up clogging my nose even more from bawling because I watched this performance on Britains got talent while resting (here it is: https://lnkd.in/g7UMcmzP). We live our lives chasing after our dreams, trying to prove we are the best, and measuring the ROI of all our activities to ensure they are completed are on-track -- that sometimes we miss the point of living. The older I get, the more I believe in what Leo Rosten said: “...I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, to be compassionate. It is, above all to matter, to count, to stand for something, to have made some difference that you lived at all." Because of the hustle and bustle of our work, we tend to forget to be "human-centered". We get caught up doing whatever it takes to reach our targets that all too often, it is at the expense of hurting or destroying others and our relationships because "we gotta do what we gotta do." The performance reminded me that "people will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel." I guess overall, it's about striking the balance of being kind, being firm, and communicating what you need in a manner that inspires. I would rather be known as inspiring than dictating, collaborative than cut-throat, inclusive than creating barriers. I hope that while you achieve more in life, you get to touch more lives and influence them to be better. After-all, the point of living is to leave it a better place for others. That's that! Our winter 2023 campaign was hugely successful, particularly our 'Let Your Body Go To Work' advertising, which recently won four Gold and one Silver at the Comms Council Axis Awards 🏆 Our research showed that through the advertising we motivated people to stay home if they were sick, preventing the spread of illness to others, specifically communities at higher risk of getting seriously unwell over winter. Some insights from the research: 🤒 2.2 million battled sickness last winter. 🏠 1.9 million were more aware of the need to stay home if sick, based on seeing the advertising. 💡 1.2 million were influenced/motivated to stay home if sick, based on seeing the advertising. 📈 Only 700,000 people would have stayed home if sick if they hadn't seen our ads.
