Moving accountants can be a real PITA. There, I said it. ❌ The stress of coming to the decision to move ❌ Finding the right person or people ❌ Speaking to your existing accountant to tell them you're moving ❌ Worrying whether you're making the right choice in moving (nobody wants to be out of the frying pan and into the fire). I could go on, but you get my drift.... Things that can make this process a whole heap easier can include: 🔥 Knowing what your costs are from the outset 🔥 Having a clear timeline of what will happen and when 🔥 There being a clear agreement in place of what work will be undertaken and who has what responsibilities 🔥 A clear point of communication for any questions you may have 🔥 Being able to focus on your business whilst your new accountant deals directly with your outgoing accountant to handle the transfer of all the required information. Biscuit Directors! An accountant's office is a hub of reconciliation, checks, and corrections. The importance of accurate prints, once urgently required, line up in single-sided bundles in minutes. Clients rely on us sincerely, and we value such a relationship dearly, so much so that we retain original copies, while they pick up photocopies. We recently moved our office to a new location and were segregating papers. One such paper, a handwritten note by my junior colleague, tickled my funny bone. It read, "Rs. xxx Mario biscuit - Move to director's account." When I read this today, I couldn't help but chuckle. Imagine an accountant whose day-to-day work involves meticulously tracking such petty expenses. It might seem silly, but these Mario biscuits are serious business! Even the smallest details matter to work perfectly. This anecdote reminds me of the meticulous nature of our profession. Each transaction, no matter how trivial, contributes to the bigger picture.
