Gensler 2024 Global Workplace Survey Released For the past 20 years, Gensler has published the survey results of office workers. In past years, the emphasis has been on space management and utilization but is now increasingly focused on the ways that space can influence productivity and job satisfaction. We were interested to see that 50% of work time is still in the office according to the survey. That is lower than pre-pandemic levels by a noticeable amount, but it doesn't totally account for the office space reductions that are happening in most major metros. We'd strongly recommend this report to anybody in real estate, human resources and management. https://loom.ly/BYosFXI #office #architecture #productivity

For years, AEC firms and their developer clients have worked under the assumption that a good workplace is effective when it fosters working alone, with others in-person and virtually, learning, and socializing. These factors are foundational as workplace performance indicators. “But having a good workplace is no longer enough,” states The Gensler Research Institute in its Global Workplace Report 2024, which is based on over 16,000 employee responses to a survey conducted in 15 countries and with 10 client industries. #office #officebuildings #cre #investmentrealestate

As the #workplace landscape undergoes a seismic shift, the focus is less on how many people come into the office & more on how the office can support people’s needs 👏🏻👏🏻 Gensler have made their predictions on the key trends to watch in 2024.... what do you think, any others you'd have included in the list? Some of their insights that most stood out to me 💡 ✅ In: People Performance | ❌ Out: Real Estate Metrics Focus on building a workplace that supports people’s needs - we'll see a shift from measuring success with real estate metrics to prioritizing people performance. ✅ In: Privacy | ❌ Out: Open Recognize the importance of acoustic privacy for focused work. Provide 'degrees of openness,' from enclosed focus rooms to quiet zones, moving away from sea-of-desks open plan layouts. ✅ In: Joy of Work | ❌ Out: FOMO Cultivate joy in work environments for higher employee engagement. Say goodbye to fear-driven approaches and mandates, fostering a workplace experience that captures peoples best selves. https://lnkd.in/edX_gnuP #FutureOfWork #EmployeeEngagement #Acoufelt

A great article. "Creating a high-performing workplace will take more than just checking a few boxes, but this research makes the case for paying more attention to the types of environments workers are seeking. One surprising result from the survey is how few companies are actually trying to meet those needs. According to the report, less than a third of workplaces have been redesigned in the last three years."

A happy and healthy workplace is one that recognizes the unique needs and preferences of each employee. By providing a space that caters to individual personalities, we can increase fulfillment and satisfaction in the workplace. Allowing employees to take ownership of their space shows that the organization values those preferences. “The ideal office may just be the one where workers feel like they matter.” Let's create spaces that empower and inspire our teams! #workplacewellness

Things that stood out to me from Gensler’s 2024 Workplace Survey: 🤝 The most engaged employees spend less time working alone, and more time learning and socializing. … By contrast, the least engaged employees work alone 44% of the time (compared to 34% for most engaged) — and spend almost 10% less time learning and socializing. ⬆️ Top-performing individuals and teams have higher-performing workplaces … Gensler defines “high-performing workplaces” as a combination of effectiveness and experience: how the space supports work (functional), and how workers feel about the space (emotional). … 96% of employees in high-performing workplaces say they have control over how they manage their time at work, and 97% understand how their work contributes to the company’s mission. 🏡 Building quality correlates with workplace performance … High-performing workplaces are twice as likely to be in a high-quality office building, with diverse space types (focus rooms / areas for relaxing) and access to a wide range of neighborhood amenities (cafes, outdoor spaces, health facilities). More fuel to the fire for creating high quality, well positioned workspaces that help teams thrive personally and professionally.
