This is my first post in a new type of content I'm calling - UX in Real Life. It shines a light on the many amazing ways UX impacts your everyday life that you may be unaware of. One of my favorite examples I encountered recently is the parking lot sensors available in many parking garages across the country. If you're in Houston check out City Centre. How they work: The lights have sensors and if they detect a car underneath, they turn red; no car, green; no car and it’s a handicap spot, blue. Since they’re on the ceiling, you can see the lights from across the lot so you never have to bother driving up and down the aisles. Justin kicked off Seattle Design Festival 's Mainstage program yesterday with the talk "Design is 'Connection' Made Manifest." A brief post recapping the presentation and event: https://lnkd.in/d8Y3jBt5 The talk itself—very much revolving around themes of how we connect and create—was crafted around three core pillars: ⭐️ What if we were able to identify and prioritize our values to leverage in our design practice—for the betterment of the connection of us to one another, us to our craft, and our design to those who engage with it? ⭐️ What if we created in an environment supportive of our growth evolution as designers?—that respected us as unique individuals with diverse perspectives? ⭐️ What if we were tool agnostic, focusing on evolution of approach, strategic thinking, and overall craft?—letting the medium of creation be whatever drives the most effective process, and the highest quality outcome? Although Prevas has been a close partner on many projects over the past 10-15 years, it's undeniably with a bit of nerves and a dizzy feeling we embark on this new and very exciting journey.
