We’re extremely proud to be one of the top three finalists, but winning is our ultimate goal! Pirita is a residential development certified as carbon neutral throughout its entire lifecycle. How? Firstly, by using an industrialised timber structure that encapsulates 401tCO2, alongside other bio-sourced materials and solutions. Secondly, by being 100% electric, Passive House certified, and equipped with solar panels for energy production, ensuring that the building will generate more energy than it consumes. Its design and construction methodology represent a significant innovation in the real estate industry, setting the standard for future developments. Still not convinced? The South Carolina Count on Concrete conference was held this week in Columbia, SC, bringing together over 125 professionals from SC DOT, industry, and consultant organizations. ACPA's Eric Ferrebee, Senior Director of Technical Services, helped kick things off by providing a presentation on Designing More Sustainable Pavements. Ferrebee highlighted that sustainability requires robust materials competition to ensure the economic pillar of sustainability is strong. IGGA's Nick Davis, Director of Technical Services, delivered a presentation focusing on Optimized Pavement Surfaces and the safety and fuel economy they can provide. Overall, the conference featured case studies, innovations, and best practices from numerous ACPA members. #acpaontheroad
