Cryogenic Breakthrough. Five years ago we started conceptualising a new cryogenic design for TEM. In April 2020 we cooled down for the first time with liquid helium. The results did not seem promising initially, reaching only about 50 K. Almost a year later, in February 2021, we could (somewhat) stabilise low temperatures for the first time. ❄ Last week, with the newest cryogenic advancements, a breakthrough cool-down was achieved within 1 minute with stability of +/-2.4 mK (within 30-minute intervals). Thanks to our team and collaborators!
