Each year, Cone Health helps more than 300 men fight prostate and other reproductive cancers, making it our third most-commonly diagnosed and treated cancer. We are grateful for our cancer care team for their commitment to providing the best possible outcomes for our community 💙 Prostate cancer survivor, Charlz Henry, served up the #firstpitch ⚾ at the Greensboro Grasshoppers game Sunday with an important message: “Black men in particular die from prostate cancer and they don’t have to. Men, in general, don’t go get checked, but men who look like me really don’t. I'm fine because I got screened and took care of it," he warns: "Don't be that person." 🔬 If you or someone you know qualifies, register today for a free blood test prostate cancer screening on Sept 16 at Cone Health Cancer Center: https://shorturl.at/5uZy0

When caught early, uterine cancer is considered highly curable; however, Black women are less likely to be diagnosed early in the course of uterine cancer, and their survival rates are worse no matter when they are diagnosed and what subtype of the cancer they have. Additionally, uterine cancer shows up more aggressively for Black women than other groups. Keep in mind that conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) also put women at greatest risk for developing uterine cancer. We will continually emphasize that there is no screening for uterine cancer, so we must be vigilant about recognizing when something may be wrong with our bodies. Each year in the US, approximately 100,000 people are treated for cervical precancer, 14,000 people are diagnosed with #CervicalCancer, and 4,000 die of cervical cancer. People with a cervix should be screened with HPV testing, and if HPV-positive, genotyping and cytology testing should be performed to assess the risk of cervical precancer and determine the need for colposcopy or treatment. This review covers current evidence on HPV pathophysiology and cervical cancer prevention. https://ja.ma/426Z7u4

Jacqueline Howard reporting on the rise in cancer cases across the world and the causes that could help us understand why we are witnessing an exponential rise in cancer diagnosis. Can we do something about it? Could there be a reason why we are actually seeing more cases as the years go by, compared to decades ago? All these questions are answered in the video below! #cancercases #riseincancerdiagnosis #cnnhealth #healthreporting
Around the world each year, tens of millions of people are told they have cancer, and millions die from the disease. Now, a report from the American Cancer Society projects that by 2050, the number of people with cancer could rise 77%. The report finds that in 2022 – the most recent year for which data was available – about 20 million cases of cancer were diagnosed alongside 9.7 million deaths from cancer. Those estimates suggest that about 1 in 5 people who are alive now will develop cancer in their lifetime, and around 1 in 9 men and 1 in 12 women will die from the disease. Spread the Word It’s #BowelCancerAwarnessMonth🎗️ Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK. Most bowel cancers start off as polyps, which are benign warty growths in the inner lining of the bowel. They undergo a process of cellular change, usually over several years, turning into cancer. Polyp detection and removal saves lives from bowel cancer, as does earlier detection when cancer has developed. We are proud to provide expert colonoscopy capacity within the NHS to help fight against bowel cancer. Together we can make a difference. Together we can save more lives. #bowels #bowlmovement #BowelCancerAwarnessMonth #bowelcancer #earlydiagnosis #nomorebowelcancerdeaths

🌎💜🎗️8 May, World Ovarian Cancer Day, an opportunity to raise awareness and support women facing this disease. Did you know that ovarian cancer is often diagnosed at an advanced stage and is the fifth cause of cancer deaths in women? Early detection is vital to improve survival rates. The Avantect test for ovarian cancer is a promising early detection tool for high-risk women who are carriers of BRCA1, and BRCA2 mutations or have a family history of breast or ovarian cancer. The test, done with a blood draw, can detect ovarian cancer at an early stage with a sensitivity of over 60% (for stages I &II). Read more: https://lnkd.in/dbn8fNux In case of a positive signal, the tester should contact her gynaecologist for further testing.

On the 4th of February every year, the world unites to raise awareness on fundamental cancer issues. This year theme is “Together, we challenge those in power”. This theme encompasses the global demand for leaders to prioritize and invest in cancer prevention and care and to do more to achieve a just and cancer-free world. According to WHO the cancer situation in Africa is disheartening. In the year 2020, approximately 1.1 million new cancer cases occurred on the continent, with around 700 000 deaths. About 50% of new cancer cases in adults in Africa are due to breast, cervical, prostate, colorectal, and liver cancer. #WordlCancerDay #CancerAwareness #BeatCancer

IT'S THE BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH. Breast cancer is that disease that doesn't discriminate. It can happen to anyone both male and female. And just like a breast cancer survivor mentioned; "When it strikes, it leaves its victims with two choices, either to identify the disease on time and deal with it appropriately amidst discomforts, or identify it late and suffer the consequences of late detection, which most likely leaves tales of sorrow, pain, tears and perhaps de*ath." So, what if we know what's normal and we're able to differentiate it from the abnormal? It would indeed make a lot of difference, right? That's why @Healthy Letters, we have decided to join the fight against breast cancer by dedicating the remaining days in October to creating awareness. Together we can beat breast cancer. Ps: It's about to get really pinkyyyyy here, stay tuned.😁 . . . #healthyletters #breastcancer #breastcancerawareness #breastcancersurvivors #cnacersurvivor #cancerfighters #creatingbreastcancerawareness
