Scotland Shines as Top Destination for International Visitors 🌍 Recent figures from the Office for National Statistics show Scotland’s continued appeal on the global stage, with international tourism outperforming the rest of the UK in 2024! From January to June alone: 🌟1.98 million visits from international tourists marked a 14% rise on 2023 and a 46% increase over pre-pandemic levels in 2019. 🌟£1.5 billion spent by international visitors—a 2% increase from 2023 and 30% growth on 2019 when adjusted for inflation. 🌟European visitors led the way, representing over half of all trips, while North American visitors grew by 54% compared to last year. In Edinburgh, these record-breaking figures showcase our city’s unique cultural and historic appeal, with the visitor economy creating unparalleled value and resilience. A dreamtime festival and an aerobatics show are just two of seven exciting upcoming events set to receive funding for the first time through next year’s Regional Events Scheme (RES). Sixty-three regional events overall are being awarded up to $1.13 million through the 2025-26 RES funding round, with successful event holders to receive between $5,000 - $40,000 in funding toward a variety of events spanning across art and performance, sport, and food and gourmet produce.   Tourism WA’s annual scheme supports smaller and developing regional events, helping to attract visitors to WA's five tourism regions and boost local economies. The funding includes $150,000 specifically for the Regional Aboriginal Events Scheme, which supports events that showcase and celebrate Aboriginal activities or experiences, through the leadership and participation of Aboriginal people.
