TENNESSEE - Governor Bill Lee and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) today announced the creation of the Office of Outdoor Recreation to further the state’s conservation efforts and to help residents and visitors have more access to Tennessee’s great outdoors. Governor Lee made the announcement at the second annual Tennessee Conservation Summit in Nashville, where key stakeholders gathered to align priorities and develop further strategies around conservation. Governor Lee and the Tennessee General Assembly have made record investments in Tennessee’s great outdoors. This new office will help to ensure the state delivers meaningful returns on those investments. Brian Clifford has been appointed director to lead the office, headquartered at TDEC in Nashville. “On behalf of the Confluence of States, I am thrilled to congratulate Tennessee on the establishment of their Office of Outdoor Recreation,” said Katherine Andrews, Chair of the Confluence of States and Director of the Arkansas Office of Outdoor Recreation. “Tennessee’s commitment marks an important milestone, joining nearly half of states across America that recognize the critical role outdoor recreation plays in our communities and economies. The gap in the middle of the country is beginning to fill up and we are seeing more momentum in coverage of the entire US with support from a state level. This new office will serve as a resource, partner, and leader working across state government and communities to support the outdoor recreation economy in Tennessee. I look forward to working hand in hand with our neighbor and moving our collective work forward.” See the Tennessee Office of Outdoor Recreation's new website: https://lnkd.in/eVUYQ2kZ
