My #InsuranceStory: I went to college for Criminal Justice and Arabic. Super insurancey right?!?! WRONG! I worked in various #jobs in Probation and Parole, Corrections as well as a social worker after I graduated. They were all jobs to me. I went overseas and became a defense contractor. I was responsible for going off base and surveying battle damaged vehicles and bringing them back to base for retrograde or disposing of them. Essentially material damage adjusting or field auto appraising of multi-million dollar vehicles. I was getting ready to come home and end my second contract and I put an application at Erie Insurance Group. Why? Advice from my Father: "If you're going to come back to your hometown, you might as well work at the best company in your hometown while you figure out what you want to do next." Little did I know what would come next is 11 great years with the organization, countless friendships and partnerships. Insurance was meant to be a stepping stone to something else. It was a stepping stone into a great company and life. Have you ever considered #insurance? Sick of just surviving in a job? Click below to see where you could thrive with an #insurancecareer. We are #hiring! Come join an amazing place to work! Check out Erie's career roles here: https://lnkd.in/gqf7uizR Looking for stability? Work for a company that's never had a layoff. Nope. Not one in our 99 years in business. What's your insurance story? #HappyBirthday #ERIEemployee
Today, ERIE celebrates our 99th Anniversary. While next year is a big milestone, it doesn't take away from the fact that we're proud to provide our customers with the same service today that we gave in 1925.

Check out Wellogy Principal and CFO, Matt Canterna in this recent post about the design of Knowlton School at OSU!
"The building is really one continuous volume, and when you look at how the ramp navigates that space, it forces you to immerse yourself into the language and design process that's going on in each and every studio." Matt Canterna, AIA (BSArch ’07, MArch ’09), Principal and CFO at Wellogy in Columbus, Ohio. --- In honor of the 20th anniversary of Knowlton Hall, we spoke to some of those responsible for its creation and to those who use the building every day.

I celebrated my 40th birthday recently! 🥳 I’m honoured and humbled that my dearest friends and family joined me, making it a night to remember. How does this relate to a business platform (I hear you ask…)? I’ve been told repeatedly that the mix of guests was brilliant and the atmosphere in the venue was joyful and positive. I don’t think this was an accident. Over the last few years I’ve made a conscious effort to remove people from my personal and business life if their presence just causes an overall depleting effect with no positive output – examples of this could be drains on my time, money, energy, resources, focus etc. In business, a few drastic culls in recent years has freed up a huge amount of mental and time capacity, allowing me to focus on the main business, Longridge Limited – it now feels like we’ve got rocket fuel in our engines! Major positive outcomes so far have been: - A multi seven-figure asset and debt restructuring exercise, leading to vastly improved liquidity and lower overall costs; - A huge pipeline of property stock under review, with several deals already purchased and many more in legals; - New contracts secured with numerous rental and lease operators, providing better service for us and renters and a more efficient and profitable investment return for the business; - A growing waiting list of investors wanting to work with us, either for a fixed percentage return or in a Joint Venture arrangement. In my personal life…the ‘joyful and positive’ atmosphere at my party is all the evidence I need that the cull was needed! Get rid of the dead wood! 👊

1. Why do you do what you do? 2. Is work just a routine that requires you to process with indifference the scheduled tasks in the order they are presented to you? My instinct is that most of us will struggle to produce a rational & concise answer to 1. Many will not recall the inspiration or action that prompted the start of a habit or career. Many of us have specific tasks that are more about muscle memory than a meaningful change. Perhaps we should reflect upon how our part will be received from us and whether the recipient’s need is satisfied by our contribution. Whether making a request or producing a material change or influencing a thought we can make a difference. If we think about how our customers receive the product of our labour we may become the positive influence that we need. Inspiring the world to produce better outcomes is not just something for academics & medical professionals. We all have the power to improve the day for those that we interact with.
A snippet of Rev. Kate Bottley's honorary graduation speech yesterday. To all of our graduates, we wish you every success with your future careers - and remember, if it doesn't go to plan, it will be ok ❤️
