"Ramadan Kareem" - Have a generous Ramadan. This phrase along with "Ramadan Mubarak" is a phrase used as a salutation when interacting with people during this time of Ramadan. ☪ Muslims around the world observe a period of fasting and spiritual reflection. From dawn until sunset, Muslims abstain from food, drink, smoking, and other physical needs. This practice serves as a way to purify the soul, practice self-discipline, and empathize with those who are less fortunate. In the workplace, it is important to be respectful and understanding towards colleagues observing Ramadan. Here are some considerations to ensure an inclusive environment: 📅 - Be mindful of lunch meetings or team outings during fasting hours. Reschedule or plan them outside of those times. 🕧 - Offer flexible working hours, if possible, to accommodate the needs of those fasting. This can include adjusting start and end times or allowing breaks for prayer. 😴- Be supportive and understanding of colleagues who may be tired or less energetic due to fasting. In terms of dietary restrictions and considerations during Ramadan, here are some key points: - Muslims only eat two main meals during Ramadan: Suhoor (pre-dawn meal) and Iftar (meal to break the fast at sunset). - Suhoor should be a wholesome and balanced meal to provide sustained energy throughout the day. It typically includes grains, proteins, fruits, and fluids. - During Iftar, Muslims traditionally break their fast with dates, followed by a light snack or appetizer before the main meal. It is important to provide options that cater to various dietary preferences and restrictions. - Avoid scheduling work-related gatherings or team meals during Iftar time, as Muslims will be breaking their fast and need time for prayer and reflection. - Be considerate of colleagues by refraining from eating in front of them, especially during fasting hours. By considering these guidelines, we can create a respectful and inclusive workplace that supports your Muslim colleagues during the holy month of Ramadan. Wishing everyone a blessed Ramadan filled with peace, joy, and spiritual growth. #ramadan2024 #TheSpiritOfTogetherness #IPN

Life of a consultant: A classic example of product positioning. Understanding cultural, social and economical needs of a geography is key to the success of an organisation. By understanding them the organisation can make strategic decisions with respect to their customer base and positioning of the products and services. I have seen a remarkable one such example during my visit to Calicut (Kozhikode). It’s none other than automated coconut scrapper. Although across india people use coconut for cooking. Kerela is known for using coconut and coconut oil extensively in cooking. The below product looks like an able substitute to the existing manual coconut scrappers. Looking forward to understand what further innovations can be added to make this product better. #understandingcustomers #productpositioningstrategy #strategymanagement

One of my perennial frustrations with traveling is that I can't find good Indonesian food when I'm on the road. 1. One of #Indonesia's best-kept secrets is its delicious food. In 2022, The Economist published an article on how there are “fewer than 100” Indonesian restaurants in America, and a similar “paucity of Indonesian eateries” in London. I can't remember the number of times I've found myself craving for a soto ayam in gloomy London or wintry New York. 2. Indonesian food is under-appreciated in much of the world, and the shortage of Indonesian restaurants in some of the world’s most international food cities “offers valuable lessons in politics, economics and prejudice”. 3. Indonesian food is diverse in ingredients and sophisticated in technique. It “blends chilli heat, citrus sourness, sweetness from unrefined sugar and salty funk from dried shrimp, all enhanced by countless native herbs and spices”. Indonesia was, after all, the centre of the spice trade for many centuries. 4. Highlights of Indonesian food include rendang, “a sort of reverse stew in which beef or chicken is first braised and then, as the liquid evaporates, fried in the remaining fat”; countless varieties of soto, or soup; and grilled chicken or fish served with sambal, a condiment made from pounded chillies. 5. Although such dishes “are not unknown everywhere in the West”, they are difficult to prepare and require “immense quantities of herbs, spices and chillies (that) are expensive in Europe and America”. Take my favourite soto ayam, for example: described by CNN as the “culinary pinnacle” of chicken noodle soup, its comforting broth requires “large amounts of fresh turmeric, lime leaves and other herbs”. 6. Another reason it is difficult to find Indonesian food in other countries is because Indonesia itself “is growing richer and freer (and) perhead emigration rate is relatively low”. Indonesia is the only trillion-dollar economy in Southeast Asia, and in no country in do fewer adults express a wish to emigrate. 7. I am, therefore, delighted to share that Withersworldwide has advised Indonesian F&B group and household brand SARIRASA GROUP on its expansion beyond Indonesia's shores, and that you may soon be able to enjoy some of their famous sate Khas Senayan at a location near you! Good food transcends borders and cultures, and it is time the world had easier access to Indonesian food. My team and I are very pleased to have played a small part in promoting Indonesian food to the world. Photo of the MOU signing ceremony, witnessed by Minister of Tourism and the Creative Industries Sandiaga Uno, and Indonesian gourmand and culinary expert William Wongso, copyright of Sarirasa. Gutted that I was unable to attend the signing ceremony, as I was back in Singapore for National Day, but very glad to have prepared the documents signed that morning.
