Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness’ Post

🚨 Connecticut's Homelessness Crisis: Immediate Action Needed 🚨 In Connecticut, we're facing a critical situation: Over 70 children are homeless, with the northwest region particularly affected due to a lack of shelters. The housing crisis, intensified by the pandemic, is pushing families into dire conditions. This is more than a state issue; it's about our community's future. As professionals and citizens, let's mobilize resources and support to provide relief and sustainable solutions. #ConnecticutHomelessCrisis #CommunityEngagement #EndHomelessnessCT https://lnkd.in/eK-G6cJN

There’s a lack of shelters in every part of Connecticut. My partner and I were denied shelter by the manager, Nikell Carter, at Marthas Place because our ESA cat “may cause allergies in a staff”. We have an ESA letter for all 3 of our animals, were approved for 2, but turned away because of 1. Where are we now, you ask? Living in a shed bordering Milford. I’m living in a shed! It’s illegal! It’s filthy! But my cat caused allergies in a staff member, so THIS is our accommodation. I’ve reached out to Jennifer Paradis, Hannah Smith at Beth El, DOH… no one cares. The invisibility is TREMENDOUS. I feel less than and ignored.
