** The Belfast Women map is turning into a Six-County Women map! ** Have a look! Although there are more medal claims to populate (yellow, for those whose service claim was unsuccessful), there are now over 300 names. Locators are linked to our #MSPA database: click on a name and access the archival description. There, you can download the full specs digitised files. Disclaimer: many applicants moved and listed several addresses in their application(s). The intent has been to use the address that was most likely the claimant's main residence in the 1920s but it's not always clear from the file itself. Some addresses cannot be found anymore (rural areas) or do not exist anymore (streets). If there are obvious errors, let me know. Today, as we reflect on our societal challenges, I can't help but think back to a crucial realization. We're failing if our policymakers and lawmakers remain silent observers of the plight of women, our mothers, sisters, and daughters, struggling for basic rights and dignity. It's time for action, not apathy. By addressing this issue head-on and demanding immediate measures, we pave the way for a more inclusive and empowered society. This is not just a women's issue; it's a human issue. Our collective future hinges on how we choose to respond today. ‘The call for greater diversity in leadership has grown louder, yet women remain underrepresented in political offices, particularly at the local government level. Politicians? Social media? Neighborhood gossip? My money's on you, boo. You can save the images and documents that follow the evidence and represent your lived experience now. #WomenMatter, and our personal stories and legacies, saved by you, will come together to make #SocialHistory. Follow these four steps: ⏰ Set your intention to save the documents of this time, however you define that for yourself. ⏰ Designate a place for the photos, documents, ephemera, and news stories you want to save. ⏰ Slide three things into that spot today, whether it's a digital folder or a spot on your bedside table. ⏰ Make a plan to share it forward: a friend, family, or comrade, or best of all a permanent repository.
