Our Testing and Maintenance Division recently conducted several tests at 65MW-capacity renewable power station sites for our client. Recently Karl Gill and Technical Engineer Mohammad Loni visited Poolbeg, Corduff, and Ringsend renewable power stations in Dublin. Tests included a step-and-touch potential test, earth impedance test, joint resistance test, continuity test and a visual inspection of all earthing and lightning protection system components. Earthing and lightning protection system testing is a crucial procedure to ensure all protection measures considered at the design stage are fulfilled. However, ongoing maintenance of the city’s widespread electrical grid causes frequent disruptions to urban life. London Power Tunnels 2 (LPT2) is the National Grid’s second phase of underground works to replace and improve the London power network by constructing 3-meter-diameter tunnels stretching 32.5 kilometers at depths of 10 meters to 63 meters. The tunnels linking Wimbledon to Crayford in southeast #London will carry high voltage electricity cables below ground deep beneath the city. Mott MacDonald was hired to integrate the digital approach with existing processes and infrastructure. The solution, a common data environment, enabled six companies to work within the same production environment and exchange information within minutes. Using Bentley solutions enabled them to eliminate up to four hours of work transferring data packages, helped streamline workflows, and provided instant visibility into work progress, and data consistency. #LPT2 is expected to be completed by 2027. #infrastructure #engineering #energy
