Electric bus manufacturer Proterra went under in 2023, leaving its customers high and dry. One of those customers was BC Transit, who had previously ordered 10 electric buses from them as a first step to an electrified fleet. In fact, they'd already had a demo bus on the ground in Victoria. In the bankruptcy aftermath, another firm stepped in to purchase Proterra's assets, but they won't be completing BC Transit's order. Through the difficulties, however, BC Transit has announced that they intend to search for a new provider - and that their goal of electrifying their fleet by 2040 is still very much alive. https://pst.cr/CDAqi . . . #victoria #bc #bctransit #ev #zev #transit #publictransit #electricbus #electrification #proterra #bankruptcy #greengoals

🔌⚡ Driving Forward: UK Government's £185 Million Boost Accelerates Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Rollout Nationwide! ⚡🔌 Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom has just announced a significant boost in funding through its Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) fund, aimed at enhancing EV charging accessibility across the UK. With over £185 million allocated to 44 additional councils, this funding injection is set to revolutionise the EV landscape. More charging points mean easier access for drivers, whether they're at home, at work, or on the go. This move aligns with the government's commitment to sustainability and clean energy, encouraging even more drivers to make the switch to electric vehicles. Here are some key highlights: ✅ £381 million LEVI fund empowering councils to strategically install chargepoints. ✅ Expansion of EV ChargePoint grants to support those without driveways or dedicated parking. ✅ Collaboration between government and industry through the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Forum, chaired by ministers and AA President Edmund V King OBE Let's drive towards a greener, more sustainable future together! 🌱🚗 #EVInfrastructure #Sustainability #CleanEnergy #LEVI #GreenFuture

🚗🔋"I don't have off-street parking, so I can't have an EV" 🚗⚖"I've heard they are too heavy, and damage roads" 🔋⛔"I'm really unsure of range, what do I do if it runs out of charge?" We know that there are challenges and concerns around the take-up of #ElectricVehicles. To support individuals and communities across Cumbria in the transition to Electric Vehicles, we are running a new project: Electric Vehicles Made Easy. We held a pilot event in Penrith, earlier this year, and have a free webinar scheduled for October 21 2024. To help us, and our partners, with this project we have developed a survey which includes a section about the vehicles in your household, any experience you may have of EVs, any challenges you perceive around switching to electric and what support you would value at a local level. Zero Carbon Cumbria are working with several different stakeholders to support Cumbria in the transition to EV, including Electricity North West, the two local authorities for Cumbria (Westmorland and Furness Council and Cumberland Council) and Charge my Street. Please help us to help you by answering this short set of questions. It will take just a few minutes. As an added incentive, we’ll put all respondents into a prize draw to win a £50 voucher for Basecamp North Lakes. Take the survey here: https://lnkd.in/eUWkTiHC
