Story time.........
Okay, so picture this: it’s just another day in the world of drayage, and we’re facing our usual set of challenges - per-diem, demurrage, and non-updated booking numbers. But today, things were about to get a little more interesting.
It all started when we got to the terminal and realized that the booking information hadn’t been updated. Our customer had changed it the day before and promised it would be updated by the morning, but no such luck. This delayed us from pulling the empty, which was a real bummer.
But we didn’t let that get us down. We pushed through and headed to the residence, where we were met with yet another hurdle. The resident had arranged for a tow truck to load an SUV onto the container, but the company sent the wrong type of tow truck. They sent a hook and tow truck instead of a flatbed truck, which was not what we were expecting.
The resident was understandably upset and called the company to have the matter corrected. But when they told him that no flatbeds were available today and they could have one there tomorrow, we knew we had to act fast. The auto-cutoff was today, and we couldn’t afford to wait around.
Thinking on my feet, I was able to secure a flatbed through one of my contacts ASAP. The container was loaded and we made the cut-off. Everyone was a winner on this day.
Just another day in the life of drayage, am I right? 🚛 #drayage #adayinthelife #logistics #residentialexports 🛳 🤝
