Why are offsites so valuable?  🎉 Relaxed setting for productive collaboration:  Offsites create a laid-back atmosphere that boosts employee satisfaction. This environment allows teams to push forward with business and internal topics while fostering a positive work culture.  💪 Team development:  Offsites are a great opportunity to bring teams together from different locations. Fun activities like a boat tour or an escape game strengthen team spirit and create lasting memories.  🚀 Reinforcing company culture:  They offer the perfect chance for employees to internalize company values and work towards common goals. It’s all about building unity and collaboration.    During our recent offsite in Copenhagen, our teams from all locations came together to celebrate milestones and plan the next steps. We visited CopenHill and the opera, enjoyed a boat tour, and fantastic dinners. Did you know that in Sweden, EVERYONE is typically called by their first name? While in some cultures, using titles such as “Miss,” “Mr.,” or “Professor” is seen as a sign of respect, in #Sweden, such formalities are often set aside. Here, people introduce themselves using their first names and expect others to do the same. This practice reflects a deeper cultural commitment to equality and informality. 🤝 A Culture of Equality: Using first names symbolizes a broader cultural commitment to flat hierarchies in Swedish workplaces. This structure promotes an environment where all team members feel valued and empowered to contribute, regardless of their position in the organization. In Sweden, it's common for decisions to be made collaboratively, and managers often work closely with their teams, encouraging open dialogue and shared responsibilities. Flat organizational structures in Sweden lead to several benefits:   Enhanced Communication: With fewer layers of management, information flows more freely, enhancing transparency and speeding up decision-making processes. Increased Employee Engagement: When workers feel their voices are heard and valued, their engagement and satisfaction levels are typically higher. Fostering Innovation: By reducing barriers to expression, flat hierarchies encourage creative thinking and innovation. Everyone, from interns to CEOs, is encouraged to share ideas. 💼 Adapting to #Swedish Work Culture: For newcomers, adapting to this level of informality and the flat structure of Swedish workplaces might take some time. It requires embracing a mindset where respect is shown through direct communication and inclusiveness rather than hierarchical titles and structured formality. ☕ Fika with Leadership: In Sweden, it's not uncommon to have a 'fika'—a coffee break—with the CEO or other higher-ranking employees. These breaks provide an opportunity to chat informally, further breaking down the barriers typically found in hierarchical organizations. Last Friday was my last day at Deel. I'm quite proud of what we, as a team, have built in these 2+ years — Deel HR was an idea in Alex Bouaziz and Pearce Dolan's minds, and today, it is a Product with market fit and hundreds of customers actively using it. Building an HRIS product in a highly competitive market (close to commodity) wasn't easy. Deel HR is perfect for global teams that want to simplify their manual processes without increasing their overhead with local HR hires. It leverages Deel's worldwide knowledge and supports many employment and contractual types whilst saving time with automation and integrations. It was possible thanks to the incredible work, sweat, and hours of a team in the background. LinkedIn won't allow me to tag that many people, but Icaro Tavares, Adson da Cruz, Douglas Franklin, Corneliu Firan, Aimee Ruddy, Marcio Mariani, Oraci Izidoro Correa, Christina Reck, AC Gartner, Eugene Shulitskyi, Oleg Svirskyi, Anastasiia Yeromina, André Brandão, Allan Larangeiras, Zoë Eager, Grace Stuart and many more made it a reality. 🚀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲! 🚀 Earlier this month, the Reonic team came together for our Barcelona offsite. With most of our team having less than 8 months of tenure, we knew that one of the key areas to focus on was aligning our goals and expectations. Rather than overloading the agenda, we decided to concentrate on what truly matters now: 𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆. Here are some insights we gained: 1️⃣ 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: First offsite comes with its challenges, but when you have a team with great intentions, you find that everyone rallies together to overcome them. It's not about perfection—it's about progress. 2️⃣ 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: While spontaneity has its place, a solid structure is key. We made a few last-minute changes to the agenda—some worked wonders, others... well, let’s just say they kept us on our toes! 😄 3️⃣ 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱, 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿? 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻!: We anticipated the team would crave more fun, but the 40/60 work-to-fun ratio wasn’t enough! Our team wanted more workshops, which was an incredible surprise and a testament to their drive and passion. 4️⃣ 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿: Keep everyone close! The bonding was so strong that no one wanted to leave early, which made the logistics a bit tricky. Lesson learned—next time, everyone stays within walking distance! 5️⃣ 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴: Our commitment to hiring based on cultural addition paid off. The connections made were genuine, and it felt more like a getaway with friends than a work trip. By the last day, no one wanted it to end—a true testament to our aligned values! This offsite was more than just an event; 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.
