Congratulations to Mulalley on the Completion of the Oxlow Lane Development! 🎉 We’re delighted to recognise the incredible work done by Mulalley in the completion of 63 new homes as part of the Oxlow Lane development for Be First Regeneration Limited, the urban regeneration arm of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. Mulalley have created through this development: ✅ 9 apprenticeships for local people ✅ Over £3 million invested in local suppliers and SMEs ✅ Creation of 58 new full-time jobs in the community ✅ Donations exceeding £36,000 in financial contributions and resources to local initiatives Mulalley’s commitment to sustainable building and community engagement on this project is truly commendable. The project involved the demolition of outdated 1950s blocks and the construction of a high-quality, energy-efficient new block featuring renewable technologies such as PV panels and a communal Air Source Heat Pump system. The project, designed to BIM Level 2, utilised cutting-edge tools like Oculo and Autodesk Building Solutions to capture the progress of works and maintain As Built records, ensuring quality at every stage of the build. Cllr Cameron Geddes, Cabinet Member for Regeneration & Economic Development, praised the close collaboration with the community and the creation of better-quality homes for residents. At CCS, we are proud to highlight and recognise the exceptional work done on this project, which exemplifies the power of collaboration between construction, sustainability, and community. Huge congratulations to the entire team at Mulalley for their success and positive impact on the Barking and Dagenham community! #ConstructionLeadership #Mulalley #UrbanRegeneration #SocialValue #SustainableBuilding #ConsiderateConstructors #CCS #CommunityImpact

A hub where surplus construction waste will be reused and sold is set to open in Wolverhampton in a bid to reduce landfill. The Reuse Hub will allow members of the public to buy bricks, tiles, flooring and other building supplies. It will be run by The Rebuild Site CIC and the All Saints Action Network (ASAN) charity thanks to a £100,000 investment from the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA). Within the first year of opening around 600 tonnes of material is expected to be diverted away from landfill – the equivalent weight of 250 Ozzy the bulls or 20 West Midlands Metro trams. When it opens later this summer, left over materials from construction sites, builders' merchants and wholesalers will be taken by The Reuse Hub and sold on at a discounted price. Based at ASAN's wood depot in Dixon Street, the new initiative is expected to create jobs, apprenticeships as well as host repair and skills workshops. #environment #sustainability #climatechange #education #Reuse #recycle #reduce #circulareconomy https://lnkd.in/ezdZgPtr

We are proud to be playing our part in the drive towards #decarbonisation - and contributing to the country's aim for #netzero by providing insulation systems and innovative technical support for projects in both the retrofit and new build housing sectors. Our services are tailored to the needs of local authorities, housing associations and principal contractors for both social housing and commercial properties. We provide people with a warmer, cosier and much more energy efficient home, while also reducing outside noise and improving the thermal comfort in the property. And in doing those things not only do we help people save money on their energy bills but also help them reduce their carbon footprint, which is obviously better for the environment. Delivering a positive contribution to the government’s plans for net zero by 2050. That's a key touch point for us. Our industry has always thrown up challenges and one of the current ones, which will continue to reverberate into the future, is how we encourage, recruit and train people in sufficient numbers to come into our working environment to help tackle the carbon conundrum. Yet across the Westdale Group we are actively arming the next generation with the tools, knowledge and skills to make their own impact - and carve out a satisfying career. Westdale North Limited have a clear pathway through their successful #ExternalWallInsulation apprenticeship scheme, Structherm Ltd take young people through their own 'Construction Design and Build Technician' apprenticeship, while Westdale Midlands continue to make big waves with their burgeoning Training Academy, where they take unemployed people from the local area and offer them a course in the application of #EWI, with the prospect of gaining full-time employment with the organisation. www.westdale.uk #netzeroweek #decarbonisation #netzero #refurbishment #retrofit #energyefficiency #sustainability #housing #construction #EWI #Insulation #rendering #housingcontractors #architects #localauthorities #housingassociations #principalcontractors #carbonfootprint Doncaster Council Doncaster Chamber Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) #Sheffield

📣 Let’s talk about the benefits of home building... Aside from the increased energy and thermal efficiency performance that makes new homes more environmentally friendly and comfortable than in previous generations, home building delivers significant social and economic benefits. These are just a few 👇 1️⃣ Home building is at the coalface of tackling the housing crisis. In the last 5 years alone, builders have delivered around 1.2 million much-needed homes. 2️⃣ The home building industry supports around 750,000 jobs and more than 8,000 apprenticeships. That’s enough jobs to employ the entire population of Sheffield. 3️⃣ Residential home builders contribute more than £70 million a year for community open spaces, as part of section 106 agreements. This could fund a new playground in every town in England. 4️⃣ Home builders provide almost £195 million of investment into local schools each year. This is used to develop new and existing schools within communities. 5️⃣ Home building leads to £12.5 billion of spending in supply chains and £6.3 billion of spending in local shops. 6️⃣ It’s estimated that every 100,000 new homes built… … adds 1% to GDP.

It’s great to see Jack Cook spreading his knowledge and inspire the younger generation to enter the construction industry. 🏗️ Did you know? 👉 The UK is facing an aging population, and the construction sector is poised to witness a significant departure of skills due to impending retirements over the next decade. 👉225,000 new site construction workers will be needed by 2027. 👉Currently 28% of professionals say that the construction industry is less attractive than other sectors. It's crucial for construction leaders to act on the pressing talent shortage issue and establish an inclusive workplace culture where every individual is valued, treated equitably, and given support. 🚧 #constructionindustry #generation4change #inspireyoungpeople #skillsshortage Generation4Change (G4C) National G4C North West | Zoe McArdle Bsc, MSc |Sam Clubley |Sandra Janik | Lydia McGuinness | Edward Raven
I had a great time on Monday talking to The Lowry Academy's Year 9's & 10's about careers in Construction. I think it is essential to be doing these kinds of talks to try and change people's perception of our industry and highlight the amount opportunities out there for people to work in our industry. It was good to see boys and girls engaged in this careers talk and they were a credit to their school all the way through the morning. DONEGAL MOVES TO ZERO: Recently we handed over two ‘A’ rated educational schemes for secondary colleges, completing a busy period of installs across the ‘Hills of Donegal’. 🍃Situated on one of the most picturesque sites in all of Ireland, just on the edge of Mulroy Bay, Milford, a new, two-storey classroom block is now fully-utilised at Mulroy College. Spanning over 880 sqm, the new block consists of seven mainstream classrooms, three SET rooms, two offices and washrooms. Completed in a sargasso and oyster grey colourway that’s sympathetic to the backdrop of Mulroy Bay, Mulroy College is now benefitting from a new building that’s comfortable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly, creating a healthy learning environment for the school community. 🍃Just 15 kilometers away, a new energy-efficient and sustainable modular building has been installed at Errigal College, Letterkenny. Offering an additional 840sqm of space and built to #GreenBuildingPractices, the standalone, two-story block was completed within six months, and has already achieved a 'best in class' BER A rating. With both buildings manufactured offsite in our premises in Co. Tyrone, disruption to the school communities was significantly reduced, as was the timeframe, which are just some of the reasons why so many schools are choosing to #movetozero with Mac Zero Modular Buildings #greenbuildingpractices #movetozero #sustainablebuildings #modularbuildings #educationbuildings #lowcarbon #modernmethodsofconstruction #futureproofing

Collaboration and trading with social enterprises is a great way to do business that benefits people and planet.
Director Of Business Development at REMO the trading name of CCORRN & Trustee of REMO Charitable Trust
Fascinating visit to meet John Evans and see the fantastic work that New Meaning Foundation New Meaning Training and New Meaning Construction are doing in Waterbeach and beyond. Training is offered under contract to people who are education excluded or experiencing homelessness. Under the tutelage of experienced tradespeople they learn a valuable trade like plumbing or carpentry. For some this can lead to an earning opportunity on construction projects. We even had the opportunity to view the high standard of construction in the Space Micro Homes that will become a safe haven to call home for people who have been homeless. Needless to say we are looking forward to exploring how we can work with this innovative social enterprise in our forthcoming Eco Hub development in March, Cambs.

Today's AFR piece with Civil Contractors Federation National commentary on the need to invest in our construction workforce particularly civil to tackle housing challenges and build great communities. Historic non-prioritisation and lack of skills funding for civil occupations to catch up with the shortfalls it's no wonder subdivision, water, sewerage, roads, energy transformation and essential infrastructure is compounding the lack of housing underway. The future forecast of 1.2 million homes over the next five years to 2029 seems dead in the water under the current settings, but it doesn’t have to be this way in the 2028-2030 outer years of this decade. Whilst there is a challenging housing position facing many Australians today and the period ahead, the Federal government has a once in a generation opportunity to refocus on apprenticeships particularly civil that impact the cost of living as a first step in delivering hospitals, schools, homes, energy transition and great community. #Civilfirst For the full article go to: https://lnkd.in/e9kwgvXS
