In our opinion, coal seam gas extraction presents both benefits and challenges. On one hand, it offers a significant energy resource that can help meet global energy demands and reduce reliance on other fossil fuels. On the other hand, it raises environmental concerns such as groundwater contamination and methane emissions, which need to be carefully managed through rigorous regulation and responsible extraction practices. What is coal seam gas used for ? Australia relies on coal for base-load electricity, but cleaner energy sources are being added to the mix to pursue longer-term emission reduction targets. Coal seam gas (CSG) and other gas-generated electricity sources are intermediate steps towards the goal of lower emissions – they are cleaner than coal, and can compete in the current energy market. Viable, cleaner energy sources, such as CSG that are compatible with existing energy infrastructure should also help build the renewable energy market. The increasing worldwide push toward energy transition bodes well for Chile's copper and lithium segments in the long term, but certain obstacles delay Chile's full short-term potential. Renewable production continues to expand as the power sector invests in it, but the transition is challenging because renewable generation's inherently volatile production requires a more robust transmission system and storage capacity with batteries. Inexhaustible Source: Solar energy is derived from the sun, which is expected to emit energy for billions of years. Unlike fossil fuels, which are finite and depletable, the sun's energy is virtually limitless on a human timescale. The sun rises and sets every day, providing a consistent and reliable source of energy. This predictability is a key characteristic of renewable energy sources.
