#Innovation is in the air! There is a lot on the agenda this week, for me, for ALTANA AG and not least for the chemical industry in Europe. Today the Innovation & Research Week by the European Commission and the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union starts in Brussels. The R&I Days 2024 will feature a series of events to debate current topics that not only concern politics and industry in the EU, but also ourselves at ALTANA as a specialty chemicals company. The future of the EU and therefore also Germany as an industrial location is at stake. So let's get started - together. What is needed for this? Research and development needs to be given a much higher priority in policymaking again and laws need to be clearly defined in order to strengthen Germany as a research location. After all, the future is created through innovation. The recently published annual report 2024 of the EFI - Expertenkommission Forschung und Innovation, which was also sent to Federal Chancellor Scholz and Federal Minister Stark-Watzinger, points in a similar direction. There will be more innovation topics to come this week and it will end with another highlight - for ALTANA group as well as for me personally. On Friday, March 22, I will present the results for the 2023 reporting year, together with my colleague, our CFO Stefan Genten. How did things go for the ALTANA Group last year and what can we expect for 2024? We will answer these questions in a German-language live broadcast, which you can also follow via the ALTANA website. Insightful Visit: German Journalists at KIRCHHOFF Automotive 's Premier Plant. At the invitation of Arndt Kirchhoff, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the KIRCHHOFF Group, leading business journalists from Germany visited our Gliwice plant in Poland. With nearly 1000 employees, the Gliwice plant is our largest and integrates all of KIRCHHOFF Automotive 's key technologies. Arndt Kirchhoff aimed to highlight the exceptional setup of our Polish facilities and Poland's favorable business environment. For instance, the tax burden and labor costs in Poland are significantly lower. The metal and electrical industry in Poland in 2023 was 45.5% above the pre-crisis level of 2018, compared to Germany's 5.4% below. Arndt Kirchhoff emphasized the need for improving industrial location factors.
