INDUSTRY NEWS: The Australian Government has announced $33.3 million in funding towards improving road safety amongst 56 known crash sites under the 2024-25 Black Spot Program. Safety measures such as traffic lights, safety barriers, roundabouts, and better pedestrian access will be installed in high-risk areas. Key projects currently being funded includes: - Eramosa Road, Somerville: $1.37M for 40km/h speed ones and traffic managements - Calder Highway, Irymple: $1.38M for road widening, painted separators, and safety barriers. - MacArthur Street, Sale: $1.22M for a single-lane roundabout with pedestrians This latest round of funding is part of a larger effort to reduce the worsening road toll on Australian roads. 17 of the most high-risk roads in England to be made safer for drivers. 🛣 The £38.3 million comes on top of the £147.5 million already invested to deliver life-saving improvements on 82 high risk roads across England. Over a 20-year period, this funding will see significant reductions in fatal and serious injuries, up to as much as a 30.8% reduction on some roads.
