Good Morning, #Student #Engineers and LinkedIn Family. I'm excited to present a series of demonstrations, and as you can see in the video, it's quite engaging! Today, I'll be explaining the setup and techniques showcased in the video below. And I'll love to give it a title; #HEATING AND #STRAIGHTENING OF SPRING METALLIC STEEL USED FOR CUTTING BLADES!! In the context of MEE 391 (#METALLURGY), this specific Metallic Spring is known for its exceptional strength, which makes it difficult to malleate due to its high tensile strength. The initial step in achieving the objectives outlined in the title involves setting up the heating apparatus. I would like to emphasize that this approach represents an innovative solution with 80% local content, to initiate the process, the battery used for powering vehicles is connected to an Air Blow Fan (from a damaged car) to enhance the rate of heating per blow. The choice of fuel is kernel shells due to their rapid combustion and slow ash formation. Once the setup is completed and the connections are verified, the bent Spring is positioned in the blow zone to undergo a two-phase heating process until the heated metal turns flamy red, to enable easier straightening through hammering. Thereafter, the Spring metal is subjected to surface grinding on a machine to attain the specific properties required for cutting blades. Most physicians do not recommend using welding helmets for two reasons: 1. The helmets may not respond quick enough, but that is not the primary issue. 2. MOST IMPORTANT - most welders glasses and helmets do not provide sufficient light blocking. Most only are level 12 filtering, whereas the minimum recommended light blocking is level 14.

Installation day! Today we are alongside our partners at Rotoweld helping with installation and training on this customer's new Rotoweld 3.0 from Tecnar / Rotoweld We were able to weld these out of round, misaligned 8" pipe coupons in 8min and 30 seconds from root to cap with zero operator input. It is truly impressive watching the Perfect Pass IQ technology make weld adjustments in real time. As a part of the training we purposely left high-low gaps and used out of round pipe to show the machine's capabilities at adapting in real time with no human input to ensure perfect welds regardless of fit up. The machine also self aligns the torches, ensuring that the arm and torches are at the correct angle on every weld. No programming is necessary with this machine, the operator simply loads the pipe into the chuck and presses the green button. From there the machine does everything to make a perfect x-ray quality full pen weld from root to cap.
