Q: What has been the most rewarding project Buildland has worked on and why? A: This was the construction of a residential development in Kellyville, comprising 198 apartments over basement parking, a road, and all necessary infrastructure. This project stood out for several reasons. Firstly, it addressed a critical need for high-quality housing in the area. Secondly, the scale and complexity of the project presented numerous challenges, from logistics to engineering, requiring innovative solutions and meticulous planning. Successfully overcoming these challenges and delivering a project of such magnitude was incredibly fulfilling for our team. Additionally, witnessing the positive impact the development had on the local community, both in terms of housing availability and economic growth, was immensely rewarding. Overall, the Kellyville project exemplified Buildland's commitment to excellence, innovation, and creating spaces that enrich lives and communities. Colliers Engineering & Design is pleased to have been working closely with our client HB Land on their Woodsong project in Mickleham in Melbourne’s North, to deliver 166 residential lots as part of Stages 1, 2 and 3 prior to the end of 2024. The deadline was strict and despite some obstacles, our Engineering & Design experts were able to complete the works within the specified timeline. With WINSLOW construction commencing on stage 1 in late 2023, our team were able to successful construct and receive compliance on all 3 stages, including a Yara Valley Water Branch sewer. The key to this project’s success was a combination of the strong project planning throughout design and construction, with a focus on a smooth SOC process, and our teams strong authority relationships with relevant water bodies and agencies. Winslow & Colliers effective site management ensured that the planning resulted in construction finishing on time. Some issues that we were able to overcome included delays due to Melbourne Water, however the positive relationships our team have cultivated with this entity enabled the speedy resolution of concerns that were raised, to effectively gain compliance. Another favourable outcome we were able to realise for our client was the engineering compliance from Hume Council, which was received within 2 days of our request, again thanks to the strong relationships built with our design team. With Stages 1 – 3 now complete, the Value Colliers Storm Water team added early in the project through the realignment of the Melbourne Water Headwater is now being realised. During this process, it's estimated 40 additional lots were gained across stages 1-8, resulting in approx. $18 million in additional lot revenue. Work is progressing well on Aberdeen’s first purpose-built complex care accommodation provision. The £4million development at Stoneywood Road will deliver homes for eight people with complex care needs, offering care around the clock. The buildings are all designed to a Passivhaus (ultra-low energy) standard of environmental performance. The project is being delivered by Aberdeen City Council, Mackie Ramsey Taylor Architects and builders Ogilvie Construction. Completion is expected in Spring 2025.
