This has been my first year with VBC Europe. Working in steel modular has meant learning new things for me but also finding out that business challenges in modular transcend across technologies. Here are a few things I have reflected on shifting from the US to the EU: - discussing technology and the building system is a much stronger part of contract negotiations in the EU compared to the US. Providing detail and certifications is expected upfront. - the supplier collaboration is different in the EU. Payment terms are stricter but the possibility to negotiate for special products, batch deliveries, and a close collaboration in R&D is greater than in the US. - the appetite for Design-Build contracts is much larger in the EU. A DB contract makes a lot of sense for modular construction, especially with in-house design resources present. - there is a good appetite for standardized solutions “you tell us what makes sense from a modular viewpoint and we will listen” is a very collaborative way of working together between supplier and client. - ESG is a strong factor in the EU and here lies a great challenge when sourcing steel since the carbon footprint currently is much higher for steel than for wood. I follow with great interest the conversion from coal furnaces to electrical in Luleå and Boden, Sweden! I have also learned about the integration between furniture and modular when working with Volumetric Building Companies - Europe since we have both capabilities. A lot of unexplored opportunity sits in offering a fully fitted out room with tailored designs. I’m looking forward to a great 2025 with the team - Happy Christmas to my network! Celebrate the 4th safely this year. Hand and eye injuries due to fireworks send people to the emergency room every year over the Independence Day Holiday. In order to ensure you can return to work without incident, follow these tips: 🧨Always light fireworks on the ground and never in your hands. 🧨Never put your face over fireworks when lighting them. 🧨Do not use fireworks when intoxicated or impaired. 🧨Follow the directions on packaging. 🧨Do not allow small children to use fireworks. Sparklers burn at 2,000° F and account for 25% of fireworks related emergency room visits. Your best bet is to leave it to the professionals. Search to find where there is a fireworks show in your community. Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇲
Wishing everyone a happy and safe 4th of July! Our country turns 248 years old this Independence Day and hopefully everyone has an enjoyable holiday whether it's BBQing, lounging in the pool or at the beach, or spending time with friends and family watching fireworks. #IndependenceDay #4thofJuly #America #USA #AccentCompliance

We are living in a #progressive #country, and every day, I see posts in newspapers, media, and other platforms highlighting India's potential to become a #superpower soon. Amidst these aspirations, I believe harish iyer and many others are not asking for anything extraordinary—they are simply asking for the basic right to have a partner, to love and be loved, and to have their relationships recognized with #dignity. This is not about seeking special privileges; it’s about advocating for #equality and the #freedom to live #authentically. Countries like #Taiwan, #Nepal, and #Thailand have already taken meaningful steps to honor these fundamental human rights. It’s time for us, as a nation, to reflect deeply and ensure that everyone, regardless of their identity or orientation, is granted the same rights to love, partnership, and happiness. After all, isn’t love the most natural and universal right we all deserve? #RightToLove #EqualityForAll #LoveIsLove #MarriageEquality #HumanRights #DiversityAndInclusion #PartnerWithPride #ProgressForAll #LGBTQRights #IndiaForEquality

Honour, also spelled honor, is a multifaceted concept that encompasses respect, admiration, and recognition. It's a quality that is both socially taught and personally cultivated, often manifesting as a code of conduct that includes elements like valor, chivalry, honesty, and compassion. At its core, honour is about upholding moral principles and living with integrity. It's about being true to your word, treating others with respect, and doing what you believe is right, even when it's difficult. In a social context, honour can be seen as a form of prestige or public esteem. It's the recognition and respect that is given to someone who has achieved something significant or who has demonstrated exemplary character. This can be expressed through awards, titles, or simply through the admiration of others. However, honour is not just about external recognition. It's also about internal integrity and a commitment to living a life of purpose and meaning. It's about being true to yourself and your values, and striving to be the best person you can be. In essence, honour is a cornerstone of a virtuous life. It's a guiding principle that helps us to navigate the complexities of the world and to live with integrity and purpose.

May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) Heritage Month! This month is an opportunity to recognize the many ways AA and NHPI history, culture, leadership, and innovation have influenced all facets of life in the United States. This annual observance celebrates the diverse cultures, languages, and religions of AA and NHPI communities and individuals. This year, the U.S Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Minority (OMH) is observing AA and NHPI Heritage Month through its theme, Be the Source for Better Health: Improving Health Outcomes Through Our Cultures, Communities, and Connections, which calls on each of us to understand how the unique environments, cultures, histories, and circumstances (known as social determinants of health, or SDOH) of AA and NHPI populations impact their overall health.

November is Native American Heritage Month. As we celebrate and honor the rich history and culture of Indigenous Peoples, we also acknowledge the land upon which we gather. Land is something sacred to all of us, whether we consciously appreciate it or not, it is the space upon which we play, live, eat, find love and experience life. The land is ever-changing and ever-shifting, giving us and all other creatures and beings on the earth an infinite number of gifts and lessons. Today, we want to acknowledge the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the Nipmuc Nation on which we are working and currently performing in Worcester, MA. We recognize and respect Indigenous Peoples as traditional stewards of this land and the enduring relationship that exists between Indigenous Peoples and their traditional territories. This sort of acknowledgement is essential to human rights work across the world. It is essential to our work of honoring stories that explore the human experience. For more information about Indigenous territories, please visit https://native-land.ca/.
