Ever wondered what goes behind the scenes of editing a reel video from a raw footage?🎥✨ Let me take you on a quick ride. Today I had a walk in drive at The 1% Club for summer internships. I was one of them and shortlisted for video editor intern. This was the assignment given to make a viral reel. 🎬 Editing isn't just about cutting and pasting clips together. It's a process that involves creativity, attention to detail, and a deep learning of storytelling. ✂️ It all starts with the raw footage. The magic starts with selecting the best clips to be added with proper content in that and rest just simply trimming that off. 🎞️ Next comes the assembly part. This is were we start solving the puzzle, arranging all the footages together and in proper order and adding transitions as they can create a hook in the viewer's perspective. 🎨 Now it's time to add some magic. Visual effects, transitions and b-rolls and icons where ever it's needed so that it becomes an engaging reel. 🎵 Now to make a perfect dish we add sound effects and background music to blend with the overall footages to make it a perfect mixture of audio and video, also making sure that the voice in the video is not compromised. 📝 Adding the captions just makes the video a next level reel with highlighting the proper keywords, adding eye-catching fonts and colors. Though my parents are super supportive, uni was never really considered an option on the cards however I ended up being the first person in my family to attend (after initially taking a gap year to save some money). 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲? I took on a placement during 3rd year and did 2 x 6-month internships in Australia. They were great experiences because they led to freelance work and more importantly allowed me to establish connections – I’m still in touch with the senior designer from my first placement and that seems like years ago; you never know what and where these connections can lead to. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗚𝗨? Probably a cliché but the people – I’m still in touch with my peers and classmates (I actually bumped into someone in London at the weekend who was from the year above who studied on the Fashion & Textiles course).
