What a great start to our Brunch, Listen, and Action Social Events!
CTCO's social events are held with community leaders, parents, friends, and other non-profit organizations to allow individuals the opportunities to voice their concerns, initiatives, and ideas, while we brunch, listen, and collectively put action to what is needed within our communities.
Here is a snippet from our "Candy Confessional" activity.
What can we do as a community to help our underprivileged and at-risk youth?

When I say exposure, I'm talking about exposure to the art. Exposure to our community. Exposure to. Alternatives, as you were saying about transitioning, how to transition from high school into adulthood. If it doesn't look like college, it may be the armed forces. If it's not the armed forces, it's a trade. A lot of our students want to go to the armed forces, but they can't pass the ASVAB. So where is that disconnect? And so that is another issue that is missing, bringing those services or bringing those teachers, those educators into the community to be able to give of themselves. Again, not the ones doing it per paycheck, but the ones that want to come in and give of themselves to our youth to help them with ACT SAT as that on the other. And then also too, and I don't know if a lot of people are aware of this, that in order to graduate from high school, some of our students need critical skills in order to pass the if they can't pass the Florida exam. That they need in order to graduate, graduate, they have to take the ACT or the USA team. If they don't pass ACT or the SAT and they don't make that concordance score, then we're looking at moving our students and they're just getting our certificate of attendance. So again, a lot of that, again, exposure, exposure, exposure, exposure to the arts. When I grew up, it was always Charles Wentworth Theater, whatever was going on at Charles. With the air of being News Campus, I was there. Alvin Ailey, I was there. Any of the African American place they put on, I was there. I knew about it, OK. But again, you don't have that exposure right now for our students. They know about rap music and all that, all that other stuff, social media like you were saying. But again, it's exposure, exposure, exposure I would say is what's missing. And then also educating others about those things, especially in education as to why our students. Graduate. OK.
