For years, we have used SMS services, the same legitimate services fraudsters abuse to conduct our testing simulations. These services enable pen-testers and fraudsters alike to spoof messages. For us, it's to test businesses. For them, it's often to scam people. Over the last month, we have found more and more telecoms suppliers making arrangements to limit this activity, they almost seem scared of getting a fine for not validating such use. This means we've got to jump through some hoops - but this is a great thing! Hopefully fraudsters won't be able to validate themselves and we can turn the tide on SMS phishing. #SMShing #socialengineering
