Many of us are heading away for a summer holiday soon. While you're way, domestic water will be static in your system's pipework for a couple of weeks. This leaves it vulnerable to the proliferation of Legionella bacteria, so you should take a few sensible precautions when you get back. Flush the loo a couple of times with the lid down before using it; and run your taps for a couple of minutes, without splashing, before using the water. This allows the system to flush through, providing fresh water for you to use. Showerheads should be placed in a jug of water and run for a couple of minutes before using for a shower. Have fun this summer and be safe when you return! Some of us will be making the most of the weather at home, but you should still be watchful. If you fill a paddling pool, don't be tempted to leave the same water in it for more than a couple of days. Empty and refill pools regularly to keep the water clean, safe and Legionella free. If your business is empty for more than a few days this summer, you may need professional help to ensure your system is Legionella free. https://ow.ly/roW050SFSoF #Legionella #wellbeing #water #cleanwater #facilitiesmanagement

When the power goes out in winter, the cold can be deadly--but even without power, there are still ways to warm things up. Closing blinds and curtains and closing room doors can help contain heat, and stuffing towels in the cracks under doors can help keep the warmth in. Don’t forget about eating and staying hydrated - food provides energy to warm the body. Learn more about winter safety: weather.gov/safety/winter
