Content Authenticity Initiative’s Post

What happens when social media platforms remove Content Credentials metadata? A new paper by John Collomosse, Principal Scientist, Adobe Research, and Andy Parsons, Sr. Director, Content Authenticity Initiative, describes the triad of technologies that make for permanent and durable Content Credentials. “This triad of technologies mutually support one another to create permanently attached Content Credentials,” they write. [The paper] “also discusses how authentic content supported by durable Content Credentials has the potential to unlock value creation in new ways, for example by tracing and rewarding the reuse of media within the creative economy.” 🟡 Learn more https://lnkd.in/eVNTtGAS

I wonder if any of the platforms has ever been sued by an author for removing meta data? The problem about the CCA is it actively involves parties that have only recently demonstrated how they act against authors' rights when it comes down to it...

An easy way to keep credentials alive and make sure the media is shared with all the metadata and an immutable proof is to use Clickapp.com You can share a link to your photo or video that links to the proof and the metadata. It works like a YouTube link and it will automatically create a preview on any social media or messaging platform.

These things must be done, but they only work after a problematic image has been in the wild for some time. By then, vulnerable audiences will already have been exposed to them and anything said about “authenticity” will just be part of an instant conspiracy theory. Authenticators must work instantly for all users, no matter where they encounter images. Interpretation algorithms must be baked into all of the major web browsers, computer, and phone operating systems. The lack of an authenticator should get the attention of all viewers whether viewed on TikTok, email, or DM.

What happens is they choose “ imagined by AI” as their watermark for cannibalized images. They do that because they can, as bullies always do.
