I'm excited to share that I recently launched Creative Department™ and with it launched our first product, the Creative Department hat, just three weeks ago! As a creative, I've experienced firsthand how often people in creative departments don’t get the recognition, respect, or support they deserve. Many non-creatives don't fully grasp the importance of the creative process and often dismiss it entirely. In recent times, there's been a strong push for efficiency, A/B testing, and solely data-driven decisions while ignoring what the creative side has to offer. While these methods have their place, I strongly believe that relying exclusively on data is the wrong approach for many areas like product development, advertising, website design, and content creation. There’s immense value in gut feelings, creative thinking, and doing what feels right, even if it can't always be explained (and trust me, creatives aren't always great at explaining their reasoning). We need to fight for the creative departments and the creatives who follow their hearts and intuition to bring magical things to life. That’s why I started Creative Department. My goal is to support creatives, help them get the recognition they deserve, and highlight the critical role they play in any organization. I'm excited to share this journey with you all and to continue championing creativity together. 💙

Head of Agency for Creative Bloom | Ocean Activist | Public Speaker | Helping the good guys get found since 2014
My top 10 best memories running Creative Bloom for 10 years 🎉 (yes 10 years! I can hardly believe it!) 1️⃣ The sheer number of values driven organisations and businesses we have helped - those who strive to make things better for the people and the planet - we can sometimes feel a step removed from that in marketing but it has been our honour to serve and help so many along the way get their messages out there and be found. 2️⃣ Growing a superb team and watching the young pups grow into something spectacular and find their ways. 3️⃣ The sheer number of brilliant partners, friends, colleagues, fellow agency owners who we rub shoulders with and help each other on the way - it's tough out there, but it feels very supportive. 💚 4️⃣ The feeling of excitement me and my good friend and original cofounder felt when we first set the agency up (not to mention quite a few pints along the way)! 5️⃣ Some memorable Christmas parties with the team, partners, friends and clients - I remember filling a local pub, and we pinched ourselves at the time - look at what we did… 🎄 6️⃣ Clearstone paving - our first client, and still our client who we look after - a great sustainable local business, exactly the type who we love to help. 7️⃣ We all took a lot of enjoyment from our training & workshops - the best part of our jobs was helping people get unstuck and help themselves in the digital space 8️⃣ Billing our first £million felt pretty amazing - all from working for the green and the good and the local. 9️⃣ Trips to London clients (more pints) 🍺 🔟 10 years, baby! It’s tough out there - feels pretty good to get here. Weeks go past very quickly so it's important to take the time to reflect! #CreativeBloomIs10 #SmallBusiness #GoodBusinesses

Meet Cyril Louis our new ECD. Interviewed by Campaign Brief. I like this part the best. What do you think is more important in today’s creative industry: innovation or storytelling? It has to be both. Consumers are not loyal to cheap commodities. They crave the unique, the remarkable, and the human. The only way to get a brand to stand out is to exert emotional labor, be seen as indispensable, and produce interactions that people care deeply about. For this to happen, unique and distinctive experiences must complement powerful storytelling. The message is as important as how it is delivered regardless of the form. As a fan boy of Brand Experience - this is all that. https://lnkd.in/geDZJHRc

The Wild World of Media. It's like a never-ending stream of posts, all vying for attention. With so much to see, it's a challenge making a brand stand out. Precisely why design with intention counts. Visual content is 43% more persuasive than text alone, highlighting the power of design in engaging audiences and making them stop and take notice. But creating designs that truly engage isn't just about sourcing a stock picture on a post. It takes more. Consider this: 1. Keep it simple. People are busy, don't overload your design. Focus on a clear message and a strong visual. 2. Animations & video. Make design move. Short animations or eye-catching videos grab more attention now. 3. Design should come from a compelling story. We connect with stories. Use your designs to tell a mini-narrative that resonates with your audience. Please experiment too! Try different approaches to see what resonates with your audience, and have some fun with it. “If you can't explain it to a six year old, you don't understand it yourself.” Einstein was on to something. (And might have made a pretty good brand director!) When pitching creative projects, remember these three golden rules: 1. Don’t overcomplicate it. 2. Don’t use fancy words. It’s more impressive to communicate clearly. 3. Keep things short and to the point. Keeping it simple makes it easier on the client and helps ensure there's alignment from the start - and that the final product looks exactly the way you (and the client) want it to.
