How I Learned the Power of Words (The Hard Way) A while back, I was helping someone write a caption for a business page. The task seemed simple; promote a new product and get people excited about it (or so I thought) It was time to craft the caption, and I decided to go for something casual and concise, not too formal and just a little playful. I mean, humor always works, right? Well, not this time. The feedback came back: “It doesn’t feel professional. People might not take this seriously.” Honestly, I don't know what I was expecting but it definitely wasn't that That’s when it hit me. When I took a step back and re-read it, I realized I wasn’t writing for the product or even the audience, I was writing for myself. I wanted to sound clever, but clever wasn’t what the moment needed. I wanted to sound clever, but clever wasn’t what the situation needed. You see, Words are powerful, but only when they’re the right words for the right moment. What I’ve learned about attention spans might surprise you. A few months ago, I was scrolling through my feed, and it hit me: we’re all fighting for the same thing - Attention. Not just views, likes, or comments. But real, meaningful attention. The kind that makes people stop and say, “This is worth my time.” Most people think the secret to standing out is doing more, posting more frequently, trying every trend, or making everything look “perfect.” But here’s what I’ve learned from working on content day in and day out: It’s not about how much you post. It’s about how well you tell a story. Last month, I helped a client with a single 60-second video. It wasn’t flashy or complicated, it was raw, real, and told the story of their biggest turning point as a founder. That one video? It outperformed months of generic content they’d been posting. Why? Because stories stick. Think about it. When was the last time you remembered a random fact you read online? Now, when was the last time you remembered a story someone told you? In this world of short attention spans, stories are your superpower. They connect, inspire, and stay with people long after they’ve stopped scrolling. Here’s a question I ask myself before hitting “publish” on anything: “Does this make someone feel something?” Because if it doesn’t, no amount of edits, filters, or trends can make up for it. Before you hit post, ask yourself these questions- 1. Is the content logical, emotional, or a mix of both? • Does it address your audience’s pain points or aspirations? • Is there a clear balance between facts and feelings to resonate? 2. Does it grab attention with a strong hook? • Is the opening line something that sparks curiosity? • Would someone want to read further based on the first 2 seconds? 3. Is it easy to read and understand? • Are sentences short, clear, and to the point? • Is the content free of jargon that might confuse the reader? 4. Would a visual enhance its impact? • Could an infographic, image, or video make the message clearer? • Does the visual align with the tone and intent of the content? 5. Does it end with a clear and compelling CTA? • Does the reader know exactly what to do next? • Is the CTA aligned with the post's purpose (engagement, action, or awareness)? If you can confidently check off all these points, you're building content that works! “What on earth do I post?” Even with the best planning, the best content calendar and the best of intentions, the occasional blank space shows up—and it happens to all of us. Sometimes it’s because inspiration feels out of reach; other times, it’s because we overthink what will resonate. Here’s what I’ve learned in those moments: 🔑 Start simple: Share a question, a lesson, or a reflection. Your audience doesn’t need polished perfection—they want authenticity. 🔑Look back: Your best-performing content can often spark new ideas. Can you expand on a topic or revisit an old conversation? We are always looking forward - remember to look back, too. 🔑Engage, don’t just broadcast: If you’re out of ideas, ask your network for theirs. What challenges are they facing? What insights can you share to help? And maybe today is the day for commenting on other posts, rather than posting yourself. 🔑Remember the why: Why do you post in the first place? For me, it’s to connect, share value and spark conversations. That’s always a good starting point. If you’re staring at a blank content calendar today, take a breath. Write about: ➔ Lessons from your past experiences. ➔ Pain points your audience faces (and how you’ve solved them). ➔ Behind-the-scenes moments that humanize your brand. When life gets busy, your Content Vault has your back. 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟮: Leverage Micro-Posting: Struggling to write long posts? No problem. Break down one big idea into bite-sized content like: ➔ A quick tip (1 actionable point). ➔ A personal insight (1 story, 2 sentences). ➔ A sharp question (1 question, 2 lines). Short doesn’t mean shallow—it means smart. (You can keep another day for editing and refining your posts:) ) 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟯: Repurpose and Recycle No one remembers the brilliant post you wrote 6 months ago.
