The last six-plus years have flown by as I reflect on my time as a Security Architect at Advance Auto Parts. When I first walked in the door, our entire Infosec Department fit inside a small room of cubicles where one could simply lift their head to share something with the whole group. Oh, how we have continued to grow and transform! We've gone from being mere feet apart from each other to now having a team nearly seven times the size, with friendships that span halfway across the world. The experiences, the journey, the knowledge, and most of all, the teams I've been a part of, have exceeded all my expectations. There are too many individuals to list, but THANK YOU all for your time, knowledge sharing, and friendship!
With much thought, I've decided that it's time to look for the next challenge. I'm approaching my last week at AAP. This may be unconventional, but I've made the choice to leave on a high note without a known next journey. As I explained to my manager and coworkers, it's a matter of timing that I believe is best for myself, my team, and my family.
As I initially explore the IT job market, it seems like a complex maze to find that "win-win" situation I'm seeking. I'm reaching out to all of you whom I've had the privilege to work with over the last 15+ years of my professional journey. If you see the potential for a "win-win" situation, please let me know. I'm not looking for handouts or favors; instead, I'm eager to engage in conversations that could reveal how I can contribute to the success of a team and organization.
