Permit to Work (PTW) In recent months, I had the honor of participating in a seminar on professional risks at the University of Morsli Abdellah in the Wilaya of TIPAZA . I had the opportunity to present a crucial topic in the industrial world: PTW so The PTW: is a fundamental document to ensure the execution of tasks in a secure environment, particularly in the oil and gas sector. This document not only formalizes procedures but also serves as tangible proof of the implementation of safety measures, which can be decisive in the event of a work accident. It ensures that all safety protocols are meticulously followed, which is vital for both operational efficiency and the well-being of personnel. The Work Permit Process 1°) Preparation: The work permit is generally prepared one day before the task execution . Involved Team: -HSE Engineer -Zone Authority -Executor -Work Coordinator 2)Document Content: -Basic Information: Date, time, location, type, and name of the task to be performed. -Risk Analysis: Identification of potential hazards and necessary preventive measures to ensure the safety of personnel, installations, and the environment . 3)Distribution of Copies: -Executor: Keeps a copy for reference during the task execution. -Zone Authority: Maintains a copy for supervision and intervention if necessary. -HSE Engineer: Archives a copy for safety monitoring and audits. for me The work permit is more than just an administrative document. It reflects a proactive and responsible safety culture. By documenting risks and planning preventive measures, we protect our colleagues, preserve our installations, and respect our environment. Investing time and resources in the preparation and implementation of PTW is an act of responsibility and professionalism . I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who ensured the success of the seminar and to those who assisted me in preparing this work. #HSE #WorkSafety #Industry #OilAndGas #RiskManagement #WorkPermit #Prevention #IndustrialSafety #Environment #Safety #SecureWork #SafeIndustry #HealthAndSafety #WorkAccidents #Responsibility #HSEManagement #SafetyTraining #AccidentFreeWork

Yesterday, an unexpected audit happened at the site, the year-long project has now escalated into a shutdown due to mounting pressure from the client. The stress was palpable, with everyone feeling the pressure from all sides. The audit was not only unannounced but also unplanned, and the real challenge lay in the criticality and sheer number of permits required on site. Despite the stage of the project, there were 13 permits: 8 critical permits, 2 hot work permits, and 3 general work permits. Determined to shield my team from as much pressure as possible, I made a quick decision as soon as I spotted the audit team. I resolved, "I'll handle this on my own." I took on the role of guide for the auditors, effectively becoming part of their team, while also fulfilling my primary duties as the site HSE officer. Knowing that climbing up and down the large propane storage tank was not something the auditors particularly enjoyed, I lightened the mood by joking that we’d complete the audit before they get tired from the climb. As I led them through the site, it became clear that my familiarity with the ongoing activities and the environment earned their trust. This rapport led them to decide on a brief audit. Unfortunately, there was no confined space work to show, as the tank had been boxed up. I assured them of a more comprehensive tour the next time they visit, hopefully when we have a new or different tank ready for inspection. As the audit wrapped up, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief and accomplishment. The tension that had been weighing on everyone seemed to ease, if only slightly. However, I knew this was just one of many challenges that would come as the project progressed. With each hurdle, the team would have to remain vigilant, adaptable, and ready to face whatever comes next. The experience reinforced the importance of preparation and the ability to think on one’s feet, qualities that would be vital in the weeks and months to come. #Audit #Challenge #HSEofficer #Teamwork

How to Choose the Right QHSE Professional for Your Business Finding the right Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) professional isn’t just about filling a position—it’s about ensuring your operations' safety, compliance, and quality. But how do you know which candidate is the best fit? 🔍 Here are five essential factors to consider when choosing a QHSE professional: Relevant Certifications and Qualifications Look for industry-recognized certifications like NEBOSH, IOSH, or ISO Lead Auditor qualifications. These certifications prove the candidate has the necessary knowledge to handle your QHSE needs. Industry Experience It’s essential that your QHSE hire has experience in your specific sector. A safety officer in manufacturing may not be the best fit for construction or oil & gas. They should have experience conducting risk assessments, implementing safety measures, and creating continuous improvement plans. Ask candidates about challenges they’ve faced and how they resolved them. Leadership and Communication QHSE roles are often leadership positions, requiring strong communication skills to educate teams and implement safety policies. Look for candidates with a history of leading safety initiatives, conducting training sessions, and communicating effectively at all levels. Cultural Fit Safety culture is crucial. A QHSE professional should fit within your company culture and be able to motivate employees to embrace safety and quality practices.
