Law Firm Business Development Leader with a Client-Centric Approach to Legal Services | Attorney Growth Strategist & Coach | DEI Advocate Driving Law Firm Talent Enhancement Programs | Author of Careers in Business Law
I'm excited to share another excerpt from my new book, "Careers in Business Law: Forging Your Path to Success" featuring the inspiring journey of George Fatheree, III, Founder and CEO of ORO Impact. “Upon joining a major law firm, George initially viewed his tenure as a short-term commitment, a means to hone his legal skills. Yet, he quickly realized the potential of leveraging the firm’s resources, network, and intellectual capital to support causes close to his heart. This epiphany was not just about the logistical support a law firm could offer but also about the profound impact that skilled legal advocacy could have on social issues. Through pro bono work, board service, and volunteering, George was able to contribute significantly to various causes, from securing reparations for survivors of the Holocaust to supporting Black cultural and arts institutions. His dedication to pro bono work underscored the importance of building a strong foundation in legal skills and experience to effectively address critical social issues. George’s tenure in big law, much longer than he initially anticipated, was marked by a conscious decision to use his position for good. This decision was rooted in a belief that the practice of law could be a powerful tool for social change when aligned with purposeful intention. His work, particularly in cases like representing the Bruce family, exemplified how legal expertise could be used to rectify historical injustices and contribute to broader societal change. Through his journey, George Fatheree demonstrates how lawyers can leverage their positions within the legal profession not just to advance their careers but to make a meaningful impact on the world around them.” Join me in celebrating George Fatheree's remarkable contributions and the positive impact he's making in the business and legal worlds.
